IMG_2435.jpg The back panel is bolted in, the bottom panel is notched for the trans tunnel enough to slide to either side & access the cubbies.

oh, forgot you're in a DC. I dunno how your cubbies are shaped.

Studying the FSM schematic looks like the squeeler goes outer up like this.

    Squeeler.jpg

Interesting it doesn't show greasing pins. But like a little at the caliper and pad through contact although not slathered in-between on the open space to keep dust collection from turning to mud. Either way maintenance helps down the road.

    Yup, pads are kosher.

And "gottem". Duh. FML, I lived with this way too long. So it likely did happen when I lifted, or when the guys installed my wheels/tires. Also explains why the hell it only made sound when cold-cold, I guess when hot, it lifted off the caliper. Bizarre!

Anyway, I pulled everything (AGAIN!) and lubed that pad/caliper interaction surface, lubed the spreader contact points, confirmed squealer orientation is tire-side and up, and while inspecting found this sonofabitch...

It's been my experience that it's either road debris or the "professional tire tech" that causes this stupid.

I dinged my dust plate the first try pulling the TRE's with the pickle fork. unbolted em to get em out of the way to separate the lbj's & tre's. Just took a little manipulating to get em to not drag on the rotor.

Airflow. If nothing else, it'll prevent any chance of vacuum when you slide things in. But may also be venting out the back.

it's like that nonsense noise the hybrids make so you'll hear them coming in the grocery store lot. It's a safety feature.
Seriously, it sounds like a fairly thin piece of metal from the tone.

I did the upgrade from DD, maybe, a year ago? Not sure how it would compare getting the oem cleaned, but I've been happy with them. Would definitely do it again.

You can feel the difference off the line and that 2500-3000 range has more snap. Even after these bigger tires, its still fairly powerful.

Mpg wise? 17 ish in town before the tires, 11-12 after. I'd like to think that, without the upgrade, I'd be getting around 9.

Everything is plug and play, unless you need to buy the kit that requires an upgraded fuel pump.

playing catch up. Oddly the 2nd part of my post didn't make it. I noticed the sound skipped when your front tires dropped onto the apron but not when the rears dropped. Oh well, done is done now. Congratulations

Fascinating, I didn't notice the pitch spike at that driveway ledge, but you're right.

I'd been suspecting it was up front, and potentially on that side. I noticed two brake things after my failed 1st attempt at suspension, popping the front passenger UBJ. I was really sick when I tried doing the work and pretty delirious but was hellbent on getting it done before surgery. Thing one, in hindsight, I'm remembering hearing the squeal after, but thinking "ah, it's just settling after that work". And I wasn't hearing it nearly that much. Two, I remember I started noticing if the truck sat for a day or three, the pedal would be hard when I jumped in. Like, can't depress it at all until you start the truck. As in, I'm not holding vacuum after shutting the truck off for more than a few hours.

I still need to track down the vacuum loss thing. I should really inspect the check valve, its grommet, and soap spray the lines.

Started working on chipping out the epoxy from the Waltrip grill. Next up will be clearing out and epoxy-filling the holes, then off for sand, prep and primer I guess.

That grill look like something you could make yourself. Didn’t someone on here do that? The mesh looks like heater vent grating from the home.

FMS made it for Toyota and added it to the Waltrip branded trucks, and offered it as a grille option maybe in one of the catalogs? Every time I see one up for sale, it goes fast. I've seen them sell as high as $300 on fleabay in mint shape. :notsure:

Once I get it nice, blocked, sanded, primed with white primer, I'll test fit. If it looks good, I'll paint it 056 and keep it. If not, I'll sell the f'n thing still in primer.

This is kinda what it looks like on a white AC when blacked out and a silver DC when not (I plan to stay silver mesh). The AC is shorter in the face, note the legs being longer on the DC. I don't like how it looks on the DC. I do like how it looks on the AC/RC hood.

It's easier when you look at them like this. 'The hockey stick' filler panel under the light is taller on the DCs, and FMS (ATS) made a grille with taller "legs" to accomodate the DC grille. I did way too much digging on this one before I dropped the coin, to make sure it'd look ok, and moreover, it'll fit.
