One other thing that was a lifesaver for me, was this - temper your concern/worry with the responses of those around you that you look up to.

For example, son would try to drink WAY too much milk. He wouldn't sleep through the night, would puke up milk, etc. I asked my mom/dad and they said "add maybe 1/8th teaspoon of rice flakes to a full bottle." Asked my doctor about that and they 'don't recommend that.' They instead recommended Enfamil AR which was 'formula with rice starch.'

Asked my mom/dad about that and they said "no offense, but actual parents are sort of the experts here. Nothing wrong with baby formula...but not everyone can afford it. They have to recommend that stuff because some people are dumb."

Went back to the doctor and talked to her...and she said "Follow me to my car" as she was leaving. Outside of work, she told us "Look - rice flakes are totally fine to use, just like a little dab of Jack Daniels on a kid's gums are fine to use for teething pain. The issue isn't y'all. YOU are excellent parents. The issue is the STUPID parents...so we have to tailor our recommendations to account for the lowest common denominator." lol

So we did as my parents recommended. Kid let lose THE biggest belch I've EVER heard a 3 month old belch...and from that point on, slept 7 hours at a crack. :)

Mind you, I'm not saying to not be concerned or worried about legitimate issues...but so many things we obsess about are truly not a big deal.

    Congratulations!
If you're scared, then it means you care and that's a good thing. Our son is just over 1 now. You'll get more advice that you want; or need, so I won't add any unsolicited.
We're stopping with one kid (for multiple reasons) and when asked our response is, "We got it right the first time."

Because behind the trucks are real people. :)

Not sure if you were here, but there was a gentleman a while back who lost his son to an unfortunate series of events. :(

Within a day, the general consensus around here was "Yeah...his life is hard enough right now. We HAVE to do something for this guy to help out." The organizers hoped to raise a few grand or so...but the fine people here absolutely blew that target away. Something like $14K or so was raised. I'm not at all ashamed to admit I shed more than a few tears at the display of kindness from my fellow man here. :D

Much appreciated. And same, 1 and done... but super excited/terrified anyway. Also, I am taking your quote and saving that for sure! without to much detail, we already had to deal with life flight and emergency surgery at the 20wk mark. So enough excitement for us.

That is terrible and it is beautiful to see the community come together. I wont go in to my fears, but having a cousin who lost one at birth.... there are no words.

So this might sound a little silly, but one lesson I had to learn the hard way is that sometimes your kids have to learn their lessons the hard way too. It sounds terrible and It fills the wife and I with anxiety, but we told our daughter not to walk on the back deck barefoot in the sun until we were blue in the face, made sure she had shoes on at all times, you name it. She didn't understand what HOT was until she kicked her shoes off while we weren't looking and walked on the back deck barefoot and really felt what we were talking about. Every parent tries to protect their kids as much as possible (no different here), but accidents happen and learning to not freak out and turn them into teaching moments has been one of the biggest struggles of my life. Having said that, I feel that I'm a better person for having kids and hopefully that trend will continue as more come (someday). Congrats to you and the lady!

If you don't have family nearby, we had good luck with the book 'What to Expect When You're Expecting' and their line ('Baby', 'Toddler'). Well wishes for all involved!

Sounds like a familiar scenario. We got to skip the life flight but went in for an appointment at 30 weeks and they said you're not leaving.
Real sorry to hear that. I wish ya'll the very best and hope for a very smooth outcome.

That’s the perfect way to put it. Most of us came here looking to answer some random question about our trucks, and we stayed because we found a crew of people we could joke with, empathize with, and share life stories (good and bad). It’s a hell of a community and I’ve been pretty damn glad to be part of it. So many people I’ve met in person since getting to know them here (and even more I hope to meet) and they are even more genuine and amazing in person.

Logan @Florida AF - like @KNABORES said, treasure every stage and every minute. Next thing you know, they’re grown up and you’re left wondering what the hell to do now…

I have been overwhelmed with this thread tonight, but all in a positive way. I am still laughing at @KNABORES comment as it brought a laugh to us both at such a critical moment. I was literally reading her the messages and PMs. She said she tuned me out as soon as I said the Tundra forum and then dialed right back in when she realized what I was reading. We both sat in smiley tears until his post. Then we both laughed, hugged, logged off work and went to have dinner by the coast.

I did a lot with my forum days when I had my Rams. Strong group over there. That said, this has quickly turned into a community for me and I appreciate more than most know. I will be sure to post any fun updates along the way, as I am sure little man and his momma will both be having me building more around the house here soon!

    Thank you all!

Welcome to the parenting party! Less boring than the non parenting party.

Back on topic, once I get the barn door figured out, do you see a gym, playroom or storage unit?

I have a compressor but not connected. The 30 amp 240 circuit sits unused. All my tools are team yellow 20V.

shop will hopefully be more of a wood shop if I make it to retirement. For now it’s an office mostly. This now-enclosed patio would potentially be a paint room or maybe good for things needing high ventilation like staining since the door opening should be at least 8x8.

Pulled down some more drywall to facilitate rerouting a couple circuits from my existing kitchen area to the new pantry area. Also the floor joists that make up the third floor have pre stamped K/Os that you can just tap out to make routing super easy. Also the lighting plan in this area leaves something to be desired, so I’ll end up redoing that while I have everything apart.

Spent all day organizing the house. Three boxes filled for donation this weekend and a little more clarity in my "garage." I am currently using my patio as a garage and trying not to spend money to organize it since I will be building a shop in the next couple of years. Sucks to keep stacking and unstacking... Sore now, but feeling accomplished.
