Is there any trick to getting the tpms back working after getting new tires?
I figured that Americas Tire would reset them for me when they put my new tires on, but on my kenwood head unit, it just shows N/A for all 4's. They just put on tires, the TRD OR wheels stayed the same.

I went and fired up the truck today, pressed the TPMS button under the brake controller for about 3 seconds until the TPMS light on the dash blinked 3 times and went off. I let it idle in Park for a few minutes and went to go drive the truck for about 20min to pick something up...and another 20 min back. Still no tpms.

Is there a trick or something?

Well I read the manual, it says to put the key to ON and press the tpms button till the tire light flashes 3 times and wait 5min (same as before but this time the engine is off).

Gave this a try, and still the same.

Gonna give tundra234's method a try.

This worked for me. I didn't lower or adjust the pressure, they were all at about 45psi (returned from camping). I did step 1 through 4 and they are registering fine now.

We had to reset them after the 5th tire was put into rotation last week. It was reading the spare.

The drive cycle did not work on my 2020. A pita for sure.

I tried the other method first, drove 3-4 days to work (10miles or so) and it refused to recognize. It has worked in the past though.

It sure isn't a user friendly system to get them recognized.

Did you just do 3 quick press/release of the button or press and hold?

at this point, i wouldn't be suprised if you have to press morse code into that button

    Pressed 3 times.

I think it flashed a few times. This was before I went to bed. When I drove to work the next morning, the warning light went away after 5-10 minutes of casual driving and all 4 rotating tires were recorded.

I was ready to pull the battery and try again if it didn't work as I drive around for three previous days and it never worked (using the long press).

So still no TPMS. I've tried every combination of long press short press.....press and hold.

For my 2017 if i press and hold for 3 second, i get 3 flashes of the tpms light then it goes off.

I stopped by Americas Tire this morning and asked them about it. They had a special scan tool, and all 4 sensors were reading correctly. The guy said they mainly use it to reset the system if the TPMS light is on after new tires (my light was off). He reset the system (manually read all 4 sensors, then plugged into the obd2, then manually read all 4 again, and plugged it back in). The tpms light was flashing when he was doing this, but its off after he plugged it back in for the second time.

He said everything is reading correctly for him, but he wasn't sure why its not showing on the head unit like it did before.

Now i'm starting to wonder if its something i need to reset in the maestro. I looked all through the head unit settings (Kenwood DMX1037s with maestro) and couldn't find anything about tpms in there. All the other engine info works fine (EGT/RPM/Trans Temp/MPH....) just not the page with the Tire Pressure and Temperature.

I might reach out to Tech12volt, maybe he's ran into this.

Edit: I read on a FJ Cruiser forum that people had the same issue with the maestro and support was able to help them out. Looks like theyre closed over the weekend. I'll call on monday.

Edit2: i went poking around, and cant find in the OEM SETUP page the same maestro info like i used to. I remember that was were "Reset PID" and some of the other oem integration info was located. Now i just see "Camera Settings"

    I'M AN IDIOT!

So i called idata earlier this week. Gave them the rundown about the TPMS not working. They said to order a 2k ohm 1/4w resistor and call them back when i have it to bridge the grey/red and yellow wire (dont quote me on this...check with them if someone else in the future is reading this). Amazon delivered it, and i called them. Service was super helpful and had me go into Settings->System->OEM SETUP->Maestro Settings.

Now, i had gone in here before.....i remember that there were a few different settings i used when setting up the gauges....but all i see is "Camera Settings"
    AIL4fc8vHsogm9oQwKYtcP-Y2DqK1HxddCl7fIvw_3bc0fe37bc6f3fdd9a80c731a21d36712284a103.jpg

I tell the support guy "all i see is Camera Settings....i remember seeing a lot of other settings previously".
"it sounds like you are on the second page of the setting"
    "sonofamotherfuckingsonofabitch......it better not......ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
*chuckles* "press the up arrow and you'll see the Module Master Reset....that usually does it"

    AIL4fc8wSha890eYuhwMw9dG9LbpN25S17Fj6HmG_a92f72734d8913ae5a6a2b207871d1ffa892b1be.jpg

So i press it and drive around the block, and its all back to normal. TPMS/Temp all correct.

I have reset this stereo back to factory settings probably at least 3 times and it never occurred to me that its on the second page.
Hopefully this helps someone.....or if anyone needs any 1/4w resistors in the Sacramento area, i'm your guy!

I had the same issue after installing new to me 1794 20" wheels and tires. The set was from a 2020 model. Tried the reset and drive around method several times. I stopped by my local tire shop today and he had them hooked up in 10 minutes. cost me $20.

I found this thread after searching for how to fix my Tundra after replacing a wheel sensor. I've done every procedure here as well as using TechStream to try and reset it. It's stuck on the calibration screen and nothing I do seems to change anything. I've also done the ECU reset and relearn with my Autel 501 TPMS unit and that didn't change anything. Thoughts?

2018 TSS and it is a supposed compatible OEM sensor. The boxes that it came in all say Toyota but there are some that say that it's not actually Toyota. The sensor is definitely detected by the Autel I have.

Take it to a tire shop. Mine charged me $20 to get all four working. Couldn’t do it on my own so it was well worth it

OK, but someone has to have the insight on what they do to get it working. I have all the tools. I've followed the procedure in the manual, the 3 button press procedure, the TechStream procedure and the Autel procedure. I could understand if it said it couldn't find that sensor but now it seems hung up on finding any of the sensors which have all been verified to work.

The Autel will see a sensor but that doesn't mean it will work with the vehicle. The 2020 is living proof of that. The 2020/21 does not like most of the aftermarket sensors.

My shop had a scanner that scanned the sensors and connected them to my truck. I can’t tell you more than that other than it worked. And I tried everything others recommended before taking it in.

I am having the same issue. Put on my OEM rims with winters and had no tire light on, but nothing registered on the tpms.
Did the reset cycle , drove for about 1/2 hr, no go and still no light.
Decided to go my Tire Dealer, he has done all my Tundra Tires ( 6 since 2007) and never had this issue.
I did the negative Battery disconnect, but still has the same message, no change.
I’ve put on about 800,000 km on the 5 Previous Tundras with any issues like this.

In case someone has the same issue as i had. I have a 2020 1794. I replaced all 5 OEM wheels/tires/TPMS. When they installed the new TPMS sensors they enabled the re-learn function so my TPMS light blinked for 1 minute and turned to solid. It never showed me any pressure numbers. Kept saying re-calibration in process... For 3 months.
Long story short, i found the fix 3 technicians could not. It was in the owners manual! See picture below. Basically you have to make sure Ignition is ON, engine not running. Press TPMS button 3 times a few times (aka press 3 times, wait 2 sec, press 3 times, wait 2 sec...) until TPMS light slowly blinks 3 times. When that happens, let tire guy use his tool to scan your truck/VIN, scan all installed TPMS sensor and load it back to the truck's computer. After this TPMS light went dark/off. 10 minutes into driving home all the PSI readings appeared on the dash.

Using the scan tool overrides the procedure that is in the manual. This is why many of us have an Autel TS508.

Tire shop had Bartec Pro series TPMS, mechanic shop had Matco ($10k) setup and they failed to work. Maybe Autel works differently.
At the end, using the 3x push TPMS button method worked with the Bartec immediately.

It does not matter what you do with the button presses. Once you bring a tool into the picture, it completely overrides what was done prior to the TPMS tool being connected. You just happened to do the button presses followed by the tool which made it seem like that process worked. The tool "took over" the process and programmed the sensors. I'm not in any way trying to be a PITA, just annotating a learning scenario if that makes sense.

You may be right. I this is a new truck to me so I have no experience. All I know that 3 technicians tried it with a TPMS specific tool and they could not make it work. On the Matco tool we literally re-read the ID back from the computer and verified the ID character by character to the TPS sensor, still no dice. Maybe 6th time is the charm LOL.

Thinking of buying these for my new tires. Anybody know if the gen 1will operate on 4 only? I check my spare periodically anyway and don’t need that one barking at me. Thanks

I also only got 4 and I don’t have any error light on the dash. I wish I would have known that truck van monitor the spare. I got the RiteSensors (Bartec).

Does anyone know how I might can resolve this issue? I’ve had new tires and wheels on my truck for a couple weeks now. I check the tire pressure periodically and my tpms light has been on here and there since I got them but it eventually goes off. Today it was on but I went for a pretty good drive and it went off and hasn’t come back on all day. But I have been monitoring my air pressure and I’ve noticed that the pressure or temperature doesn’t change and it usually does .. especially on a much warmer day on a longer drive … so I’m not sure if it never worked with these new wheels and tires or if it stopped working but it’s definitely stuck on these current readings … as you can see I have an aftermarket entertainment system as well. My old aftermarket tires and wheels worked fine …. My old set up was 285/55 r 20 and my new set up is 275/70 r 18…. Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be… I should also mention that when I switched to an 18 inch wheel a few weeks ago I had 275/65 18s on there for a bit but decided to go a little bigger in tires I don’t recall the light coming on when those were on there for a week.. did the tire shop maybe not do something when they swapped them for the bigger tires?
