So about 6 months ago my neighbor got 2 cats. Since I cant park my truck in the garage, from time to time I get cat prints on my freshly washed truck. This irritates the shit out of me but me trying to be a good neighbor, I'm trying some things before I let him know I am fed up with it. I bought a motion activated cat repeller that emits ultrasonic sound waves but it doesn't seem to work that great. And I spray them with the hose every time I see them in the yard. Anyone deal with a similar issue and know of anything that works?

My high school buddy, their neighbors cat would shit in front of their windows in their garden. They leave their windows open a lot so they could smell it. He spoke to them multiple times and they never did anything. So, he set traps and would catch them and he would take their cats to the pound then tell them where to find the cats and they would have to buy the cats back basically.

So, moral of the story, I would talk to the neighbors and just politely tell them your concerns. See how they handle it, then if the neighbor does nothing handle it however you choose.

Look up he laws for what you're legally allowed to do when someone doesn't contain their critters. In my town we have a leash law so if it were to happen here we can do as what happened in my story.

I mean it is not like he can actually keep the cat off your truck. The only way would be for them to keep the cat inside.
Are there any other more high quality options as far as motion activated cat repellent systems out there?
I do think it is ultimately the neighbors responsibility to keep their animal on their property.
If they dont care and wont do anything, time to get out the pepper spray?
I do not like cats. At one time we had a neighbor cat pooping in our front flower bed every day.

In a general sense, lol. They can't just let their animals roam around.

No matter how polite you are, there's not much the neighbor can do....because cats.

You might try one of those motion activated sprayers. They spray a burst for moist air when activated. Cat's hate hissing noises.

This is why I haven't said anything to him yet. Nothing he can really do except keep them inside which I know he isn't going to do. Just an irritating problem either way. Stupid cats.

One of my neighbors has numerous cats that are kept outside. They come into our yard, garage, and porch. I checked with our local police department about the matter. Long story short, there is no law regarding cats. Legally, I could not make the neighbor keep the cats inside. There are strict laws regarding dogs, but not for cats. Your area may have different law, but where I live, there's not one single thing I could do except to trap them and do something, which neither my wife nor I am willing to do. So far, no damage is done except annoyance.

One positive note: we do not have mice/rat problems in the neighborhood.

we did talk to the neighbor, but she simply said that they are not her cats. When one of her cats got poisoned a while ago (we didn't do it), she posted some angry comments on her FB about someone harming her cat.

You could also add a electronic collar on the cat and the boundary zones to be your property so it cant go on your property without getting shocked. That is if the owner doesn't pay enough attention to the cats to know that a separate collar was added.

Thanks for all the ideas guys. My wife and I are animal lovers so I'm not looking to harm them (even though I've said I will if I get a hold of one). I just want them off my truck. Nothing like washing your baby and come out the next morning and see cat prints all over it. That shit will make you do things you think you wouldn't.

Have you thought of some type of home alarm system with an infrared detector focused on your trucks hood and the siren near the truck to scare the crap out of him? I think he would learn pretty quick.

I'm going to throw out another idea that totally surprises me that no one has suggested until now including myself: CAR COVER = no sacrificial mouse and wifey will %100 agree. No dead animals. PITA will not protest in front of your house. heh heh (I might go grill a beefy steak now)

I say buy one of them salt guns Sean has, and set up shop. On a serious note depends on how close you are to your neighbors. Our neighbors across the street have a corgi that won't shut the fuck up, but there good friends so what do you say, nothing and hope they realize there dog needs some discipline. It's a double edged sword.

Let me just preface by saying that I own a Selkirk Rex cat and two golden doodle dogs. I had a problem two years ago with a neighbor who was feeding feral cats. Long and short of the problem they were two houses away from me and she had in excess of 25 cats coming to feed. After feeding they would spend the rest of the day relieving themselves in my backyard where my children play and sitting on the convertible roof to my wife's Audi A5. I asked her to stop feeding the cats and tried to be as neighborly as possible to no avail. Eventually the cats ruined the roof of the Audi and I lost the use of my yard and pool because of the smell. I then got the township animal control involved and they issued her a summons. Next thing I know local PETA type and her husband ring my doorbell threatening lawsuit if I keep harassing the woman. They are less than cordially escorted off my property with a warning that next time hubby will be spitting his teeth out. I then proceed to buy a trap and start thinning the herd releasing the cats in a wooded area far away. The neighbor realizes what is going on when she hears the cats making a commotion when trapped and politely asks me to stop to which I had to decline because she still refused to stop feeding them. I am not heartless but when someone is arrogant like she was originally and believes it is their right to stomp on your quality of life all bets are off. Eventually I trap her favorite cat which she named "Red". She sees me putting him in my truck for the ride and begs me not to get him euthanized. All along when the cats were missing she thought they were being brought for euthanization. For leverage purposes I let her believe it and negotiate a deal that she stops feeding the cats and I give her back "Red". Long story short, deal still in place and no more problems. Moral of the story, Some people can be handled with a handshake and a smile and some you have to show your teeth.
