I think he kinda mentioned it might just be a bed rack, and that’s a different story than a camper shell.

Lol but I'm all seriousness. Fuck over landing. Truck camping is cool, kinda boring though. Truck camping/hunting/fishing trips are the actual best. Add in a good dinner of the fresh harvest and damn son....THAT'S a good time

Yeah, shifty summarized it well. Overlanding seems to pop up a ton in relation to Tundras. I've probably been looking for an excuse to state my opinions. This was it!

That link shifty posted is great.

I'll admit that I like to think I can tell the difference between people who are legit carrying what they need for some serious off-road adventures, and those who just stuck every expensive accessory they could find that they thought looked cool and tough to the side of their truck even though they'll never use half of it. In reality I'm probably not as good at telling the difference as I think I am.

But it's no different than trailers and motorhomes. Suddenly everyone's got one, and it's not easy to tell the difference between people out there for the love of nature, and people who wouldn't set foot in nature without dragging every comfort of home along with them. In fact dragging a larger home than some apartments I've lived in.

Yes, "Overlanding" will trigger some people, and make others pop a woody. Depends on your background and personality, I suppose.

In college we'd take a yearly trip to the White Rim trail in Canyonlands. We'd drive it, 3 or 4 trucks, no bikes. Camp 3 nights, drive the 100 miles. It was great. We'd bring coolers of beer, dutch ovens. A foosball table. I suppose you'd call that overlanding these days. We just called it camping. I think my fanciest gear was a spare tire and a few two-way radios :D. But this was the late 90s. Ancient history!

Fooze table??! I need to camp with you!!!

I’ve met a lot of great folks thru this site and tundras 2 Sedona.
As long as your getting out there, that’s all that counts. I mainly post pics of my adventures to make others want to do the same.
We’ve all got shit going on, make it a point to be outside and away from things. I always have a kink in my neck, but when I’m camping or fishing I’m limber as a fox!

That was quite a while ago...we don't camp with foosball tables anymore. Though I'm not opposed to it...

All this stuff is double-edged. You can use it to suit your purposes. Or you can be used by it and be part of mindless machine spinning our society in random, thoughtless directions.

My program . . . throw things in there a little at a time the days leading up to the trip . . till it's time to go.
Once I'm there, "It's in here somewhere".
Then shove all the crap to one side at night so I can sleep . . .

All the car camping I've done has been in older Toyota pickups, then my Tacoma. I have no idea what I'll do with all the space in the Tundra. Except I do know...space gets filled. Soon I won't know how I ever got by for years with so much less space.
