Truck officially hit 20 years old this year, so I decided to gift it a professional interior detail. They did a great job!

IMG_1790.jpg Here how I mounted my brake controller. Really easy. Take out the ash tray, use it as a template to drill holes in a piece of plastic (or whatever you have) then put a sheet of good Velcro on the bottom of the plastic and top of the brake controller. I’ve never had it fall. Once in a while I have to kinda push it up a little but no big deal. Fits perfect. IMG_1789.jpg

immediately after installing I did realize I need to trim back the plastic a bit to hide the white, and paint it black…..but it’s been 3 years and you know how that goes

Ok, I'm gonna try and clean it off later today. If it doesn't work I think I'll just sell it. Can't have a truck with a dirty pedal

How hard is it to replace the entire antenna? I have the full kit as well as a new boot and ornament but but the nut won’t thread on because corrosion. Gotta take the fender off or can feed through without? Anyone who has done this know how big a job it is?

Just remove the fender liner. The antenna has a bolt on the inside and then the wire feeds through the firewall.

I was curious about the seal at the firewall and accessibility. I figure I have to cut to use the old one as a feeder, hence I’m committed once I start.

I do. Partly because family Spotify shared with the house and the palm desert house means I often get my stream interrupted at specific times. Also because my ‘05 Tacoma doesn’t have phone connection (Oem radio needs mic to connect and the two CarPlay pioneer head units have gone to my dad’s older Toyota’s.)

I do a lot of podcasts and audible but mix in radio sometimes. Commute is short distance wise so sometimes nice to hear local news.

After a little searching I found a post on Reddit with instructions. Unfortunately looks like the photo links are broken.

It's not hard. You do have to remove the inner fender liner, and the fender flare if you have one. On the inside you'll need to remove the passenger side kick plate, door sill, glove box, and radio. No need to cut the old line to use as a feeder, you'll see the line coming in from the area behind the kick plate.

The new antenna assembly comes with a new boot and nut. If yours is stuck you might have luck taping off around your fender and putting some vise grips on it. That's how I got mine off. Previous owner of my truck apparently tried in the past by using a screw driver and tapping it to turn the nut, didn't work out for him as there was a scratch on the fender from where I think he attempted to do that.
