Yes, but he's colorful as hell and gives great breakdowns on how/why they designed the way they do.

And colorful ass language, with a fun Canuckistani accent. "... the tears of aborted female fetuses" for example. "Put pixies in one end, torque comes out the other..."

I enjoy watching him, and apparently polyglot too, either that, or he worked internationally. His German is pretty spot-on, specifically.

You sold an 80's-90's Dodge with a 360 to buy your Tundra?

I had a 1997 Ram with the 360 / 5.9L Magnum engine. Yes, sold it about a week after buying the 2006 Tundra.

I needed a truck with 4 doors, and a bigger rear seat. The Ram just didn't have that. Body was rusting out on it from the inside out, and the interior smelled like mold (previous owner put in a moonroof and destroyed the ceiling in the truck).

What year did you sell it? 2006? 9 years is a good run for a 360

Impressive. The older AMC 360 (predecessor to the Magnum 5.9) was supposed to be a great advancement. Oiling issues seem to kill most of them. Finding a RamCharger with a survivor 360 is tough compared to the smattering of 318s available. Some of that could be due to how many of each were produced. If there’s any old Dodge 80’s era cars and trucks running around still, chances are they have the 318. Pretty reliable little motor.

That's interesting, since the 318 and 360 are the same block (in the Magnum iteration anyway), apart from different bores.

A thread on a Dodge oriented forum I'm on has a guy building up a 408 (stroked out 360), and he just had to replace his block due to oiling issues. A crack in the block by a cam bearing was giving him low oil pressure.

I hear the oil pump design was partially to blame along with the way the timing cover was designed. Rear cylinders seem to suffer the most. You are more familiar than I would be obviously. I don't think the 318 shared a block with the 360 in the older AMC developed variants though and they are balanced differently.

In the Magnum family, the rear cylinders on both the 318 and 360 tended to suffer from the same fate... The intake manifold was notorious for leaking allowing oil to seap in and then work it's way into the cylinders. Oil would burn and eventually clog up the catalytic converter, and the increased heat from that would tend to crack the heads at the rear cylinders.

The LA and Magnum 318 and 360 engines shared blocks, apart from bores. The 360 is externally balanced, the 318 is internally balanced.

I'm not familiar with the older AMCs designs, so I can't comment on those.

Only been a few years since I knew he existed. The one I remember is the vid he did on the cable car accident.
But everything he says is drawn out with so much meaning and humor. It takes me extra energy to listen to him, typically worth it though.
