Just received my inserts and can confirm, they're garbage for $55. Especially when places like Protolabs exists which can laser sinter some seriously high-quality 3D prints for at-scale production.

This is literally just hobby grade. Don't think I'll bother installing them. Oh well, minor money waste.

If I had access to a 3D Scanner, I'd just do them myself and buy them through Protolabs.

Sorry to hear about the low quality! I just yesterday ordered the colored TRD Offroad version. Will share pics when I receive it.
This is what the insert looks like on the website

That’s nuts, bro. Seriously lacking in the fit and finish.

Put them on this morning. Easy to do, so far I like the look it gives to the hood. Time will tell how long they last or if I love em in a year.

    Just your moms.
No I didn't, it has double sided tape on it and came with little pieces if you wanted to drill the holes. Those pieces pop off to do either one. The tape is a lot stronger than I thought, once I placed it on the hood I tried to adjust it a cm. but no budge at all. Didn't want to drill into the hood, and the tape seems to hold up pretty well. I'll post on here if/when it starts to come off, or at least give a 12 month update.

Did you get that from the link above? It actually looks good! Someone said that it was cheap. Doesn't look cheap to me!

Yeah from Raveoffroad. The actual vents are OEM TRD Pro vents. they sent those, along with the TRD/Topograph inserts. I just carefully popped of the TRD PRO letters and stuck the TRD/Topo inserts in place.

I just returned the ones that I ordered from rave. The vents are open Toyota, their inserts quality is what sucks. The 3D printing quality is horrible. I ordered “Tundra” it’s raw and unfinished. Going to go with a member on here who made their own version.

Going to see how mine look when they arrive. If they’re crap I’ll also send them back unused right away. Disappointing to hear they’re selling such a low quality product. Also hoping to work with our forum member @theTupper , his work is impeccable

You're happy with the results? I'm going to get the colored TRD Off-Road inserts if you think it stacks up to good enough. I love the look!

That's nice of you to say. My solution is literally just a laser cut piece of plastic with some vinyl lettering. The finish quality will be up to the installer. I was OCD about mine, so I think it turned out okay. Shoot me a PM if you like.

I just received my inserts. I like the red "off-road" section!
The existing OEM "TRD" is much nicer.
Ideally I'd like to keep the TRD part on the left, cut the insert in half and only add the "Offroad" section.
Not sure how that will look: it would be digicam on the left and straight black on the right.
Overall these are quite acceptable I have to say. They are pretty good. They definitely look the part especially from a distance.

Is there a template or something similar if I chose to drill proper hole into hood?

The last picture, IMO, the proportions are off for the 2.5gen hood. The badge looks too big for the hood. It could be a perspective thing though.

Honestly probably a good thing it doesn’t. With that hood it would be way too busy imo.

So I did something. I took the garbage quality rave 3D inserts and sprayed with bed liner. Looks so much better. Here they are just sitting on the vents. Still not sure about installing them. I also have @theTupper version as well so I’m contemplating which to install.

It’s definitely an improvement over the crappy way they looked beforehand. If black on black is the look you’re after, it’s not at all bad looking. And at least on that one, the font and proportions look correct. On the TRD ones, it’s awful. It looks like a child drew it. I was momentarily interested in the 1794 versions on the Rave website until I saw the poor quality of the TRD ones on this thread.

Definitely better looking than the 3d printed texture.

I received my inserts and am actually pretty happy with them. Mine are colored with red. Has anyone used any polyurethane to add gloss/shine to these? If yes, is there any type of polyurethane that’s recommended for plastic on external applications?

Thanks for the link! By far the cheapest I could find these shipped. Planning on using the inserts from Rave vs leaving the Pro insignia.

When people buy clothes that mimic high-end fashion or wear replica jerseys of their favorite sports teams, they're not pretending to be wealthy or professional athletes—they’re just expressing themselves and enjoying what they have. Personalizing your truck with accessories is no different. It's about making something that already belongs to you feel more like your own, not about posing or deceiving anyone. At the end of the day, everyone should be able to spend their money on whatever brings them joy, whether it's for aesthetics, performance, or just the fun of customization.

That being said, I'm definitely doing this eventually and I just came from a '21 Tacoma Pro (I always did find it silly when people put pro tags on their non-pro trucks, but not enough to think less of them as humans).
