Wow! some awesome updates on here! I just got home and had some local urgencies to resolve. Walking up the steps I noticed the deck rot is worse than thought. So, this time I am going to start building new entry platforms and once they are ready, I will start stripping the deck. The project moved up way to soon, so the budget isnt there to replace my wrap around deck... bummer. but buy removing it I will be able to clean up under the house and get my covers built.

I think I will be having some serious photos to share soon, but for now; I have the home on rest to recover from the weekend and I am prepping to return to work (travel) while I build out my material list.

Gutted kitchen and family room to the walls. New cabinets in the garage ready stain. Changing from U shaped setup to L shape with an island. Any advice for running power to island?
Pulled slider and framed in window. Window closer to kitchen will be French doors which will be done in next day or so. New floors here , hallway and master bedroom all the same.
Only hired out work will be the quartz countertops.

Yes that is correct. I have been on hold due to shed plans and Permitting. Fl requires plans that are FL state engineer approved. What a pita.

I take it, by looking at the floor register and wood subfloor, there's a crawlspace somewhere? I'd just run it under the floor and up into the cabinet. Be wary to drill the hole only small enough wire to pull thru, then seal it from both sides to avoid creating a rodent entry point. May be wise to drop a single or double steel box on the floor, then use BX/flex out of that to whatever outlets will be on the island. In our kitchen, I just ran romex up into the cabinet, and BX anywhere it routed through wood, out into the open. Only my 2¢. I'm not an eletrician but we've got quite a few on here @bmf4069 being one of them. Know/follow your local code.

I do have a crawl space. Haven’t determined the exact seating of the island yet but pretty much what I was thinking.
Also looking into running outlets mounted under wall cabinets and eliminating the wall plugs for a cleaner look.

holy shit! $300+ for a speed square? My 30+ year old Swanson still gets me even rafter tails every time, and I don't think I paid $15 for it when I bought it.

Titanium is a way of life. And I've heard (and can imagine) that the level bubble on the heel is stupidly handy. But yes, $300 is steep

Our master bath remodel is finally done. The contractor we hired did an amazing job. It's rare that you find someone that cares this much.

We went from this 90's bathroom with fiberglass shower and peeling linoleum:

    IMG_20240423_201007~2.jpg

To this: full teardown to the studs. New LVP floors, vanity, medicine cabinets, tile shower, faucets, toilet, fart fan, plumbing and electrical. He also got rid of the awful ceiling texture. Our contractor uses the Wedi waterproofing system which he says is the best.

My wife designed it all and did a great job.

    Looks good.

Think of me the first time you whack your head on a spigot. That was the one thing we had to get accustomed to with ours. She did it twice, I've done it once since the remodel 4-5ish years ago now.

I got the idea from @j-utah garage/shop from his build thread. So I added a shelf to my workbench to give me a little more room so I can add a vice to the bench.

The island will be elevated 3-4". So anywhere in the footprint will work. I usually put a J-box in the cabinet and run power from there.

You asked: Handhelds are never the main shower head. Valve should be out of the spray head with that kind of door.

Main job tackled today was all new quarter turn valves and adding water line valve for new fridge. I think the sheet rock took longer than the plumbing.

FYI 6-8” perimeter 12” in field screwing schedule. And it’s going to take few days for the mud to dry…lol. Great work and tight fit on the rock.
