188 years ago, 800 Texans whipped the hell out of 1200 Mexican soldiers in about 18 minutes. Their battle cries were "Remember the Alamo!" and "Remember Goliad!"

This marked the end of the Texas Revolution.

Whatever this forum told me to do
I pass UNDER the site of Santa Anna's capture site every day.
it's right at the Washburn tunnel.

I'm about 2 miles (as the crow flies) from the battle site.

    God Bless Texas.

Not to derail but MCAD bumped mine up 31% this year.

Anyway, I remember growing up, going to San Jacinto to watch the battle reenactments. Not sure if they still do that, but would like to take the kids to learn some Texas history.

Even this South Carolinian can appreciate the significance. After all William Barret Travis and James Butler Bonham were from neighboring Saluda County. Bonham house still stands and I've read that it's the only Alamo defender's home place still standing.
I had the chance to visit the site back in 2019

God Bless S Carolina for lending us Col Travis and Mr Bonham! True patriots to the bitter end. They were 26 and 29 years old, respectively, when they died at the Alamo.

In the same boat. We bought our house and got hit with a 200% tax increase vs prior year of non-ownership. I guess the county sees us as extremely valuable assets to this parcel of property.

i learned to drive & how to shoot a bow at the san jac monument. Had an arrow get stuck in a tree, and when my brother or cousins were learning to drive we'd always have to drive out to that tree & have a laugh. The branch died & fell off a few years ago. The arrow is gone.
