One other upgrade I am considering for thew new 1794 is replacing rhe battery with a LiFePO4. I did this on my boats and super happy: lightweight, charge well, great capacity, much lighter, bluetooth BMS visibility, …

Anybody else try this on a Tundra? Any pros or cons I might miss, or particular battery brand recommendation?

Very few LFP batteries meet the cranking amp requirements for an internal combustion engine. In the marine world I am not aware of any LFP batteries even put in parallel that could meet the cranking amp requirements of my 8.3L diesel.

Easy to get 1100CCA or 1400CCA on a LiFePO4 … seems like more than stock batteries.

I've heard good thing about the Antigravity LifePo4 batteries. They have a 94R size battery for our trucks. Haven't seen anyone use it on a daily but seen them for project cars. Believe it was like $950. It has 1500CCA. Believe oem battery was 780CCA. So more than enough power. Also has a built in jump start button like their motorcycle batteries.

Most quality large LFP batteries with a BMS won’t go past 200-300 amps before they disconnect. That’s why they are generally not used for start batteries as the current draw could exceed that on a cold engine. You also have to pay attention to battery temp as it can’t be charged when below 32F and will not provide power at all below 0-10F. If there is an LFP battery that can provide more than 1000CCA in a form factor that will fit in my truck please send me a link.

I don’t know much about lithium but I’ve seen the antigravity used in people’s fun car. Couple exotics vehicle. The ones that barely driven and sit as garage queens. But I’ve seen them use the antigravity due to the Jump start button feature. The antigravity also comes with a wireless remote to jump start without needing to get access to battery.

Here’s a link to antigravity that should fit our truck: https://antigravitybatteries.com/products/starter-batteries/automotive/ag-h7-rs/

    There’s different options for 1500/1800/2000CCA. :D

A decent large group size lead-acid battery is pushing $200, good quality AGMs up from there. A good LiFePO4 with a quality BMS and a rebuildable battery pack is probably worth $1000 considering the service life. Buy once cry once

The biggest advantage to lithium batteries other then longevity is the fact that voltage remains constant as they discharge. This feature makes them ideal for deep cycle applications like running trolling motors and on RVs. Longevity is the result of being capable of many times more cycles then flooded cell or AGMs. Flooded cells and AGMs start to loose the ability to fully charge after a fraction of the cycles. As higher CCA lithiums have become available some boat owners are switching to them for cranking batteries. Difference between boats and vehicles is with a boat, especially a fishing boat, you are often sitting with motor off while running electronics. Disadvantage to lithiums is you need a special charger. I just installed 2 lithiums in my boat to run trolling motor and electronics and last year AGM for cranking. That is what I am sticking with. If you run stereo or want to make coffee while truck is not running go for the lithium.

There is very sketchy information about the low temp specifications of the Antigravity LFP start battery. They give give detailed information on low temp on the deep cycle batteries. Also their specifications are in cranking amps (CA) and not CCA. CA is measured at 32F and not near the shutoff point of most LFP batteries. Also charging an LFP battery with an internal temp below 32F is a problem. If your truck has been outside all night below freezing, it would start but the BMS would prevent it from charging until it warmed up. Without a complete understanding of the alternator regulation and control logic, the lack of a battery load could cause some major problems. It kind of seems like a warm climate alternative.

Considering an AGM is 250-300, I would have to burn through 15+ years to recoup the cost. Not seeing the upside financially.
Kinda like thinking solar panels will pay for themselves without factoring in upkeep…

    OPERATION TEMPERATURE
This product is designed to work in ambient temperatures between -5°C to 60°C (23°F to 140°F). For best performance do not operate
outside of temperature ranges. Do not jump-start a frozen battery. Do not charge a frozen battery

I can only assume that this will go boom if a frozen battery is put under load.

Have one of their batteries in my Harley, had it now for 4 yrs, haven’t had a problem with it. Keep it on trickle charger in the winter.

AGMs are in the $300's. I have them in 2 vehicles and each was still going strong at 7-8 years when I sold them. I dont see the need to pay 3x.

Some of the local MR2 folks have tried antigravity batteries and didn’t like them, lost charge too quickly and not intended for deep cycle
