Truck recently updated over WiFi and noted today that distance to E was 32 miles yet no low fuel warning light. Filled truck up and it took 27 gallons which means it still had 5 in it.

Just had the exact same experience. I have not had the trans recall flash yet. That shouldn't affect it but sometimes computers talk....

Mine never comes on that early... Usually gets down into the mid teens before the light comes on. It has been that way since new 2 years ago.

So you don't notice random changes and wonder whats up? I couldn't care less about the low fuel light.

    I said it in jest.

But, if you want to get serious, it used to be because the light burnt out. Now, it's because the software is glitchy.

Now, I'm not anti-tech but I think it's interesting to watch the different types of people who come to a truck forum and try to diagnose an issue that requires mechanical, electrical, and computer science skills and a dabble of insider knowledge of Toyota to even begin to help you with your issue.

I had the same issue this week. Down to 21 miles to empty and no low fuel warning.

    Lots of stuff!
Do you happen to know what version of software you are running now (after the update)?

Hmmm, just fill up when you get to 1/4 tank. Problem solved. I have never seen a low fuel light come on any car I've ever had. Save your fuel pump as well.

#firstworldproblems. I don’t let mine get that low to trigger.

Mine comes on at 15. I don’t like it to get that low. But with running kids everywhere and my own errands I sometimes just forget to fill up.

I got the truck last week, I wanted to test it out since I usually fill up at a 1/4 tank and mine comes on at 22km left (a little les than 14 miles). I put 105 litres (27.7 gallons) of gas so pretty close to empty.

Seems like the gauge is pretty accurate even tho the mileage to empty when I fill up is just a wild guess, it’s always a couple of hundred of kilometres short.
