I recently ran into a dangerous situation when driving a 2023 SR5 using cruise control where it almost caused a collision. Based on my recollection, it occurred roughly the following way
    1. Cruise control was in dynamic radar mode and set to 55 mph.
    2. The truck was approaching a stop light and vehicles in front are detected (car symbol shown on dash). Cruise control had applied brakes to slow down.
    3. As the truck was decelerating, the car in front of the truck switched lanes, revealing a second car in front of it.
    4. Cruise control accelerated the truck, and pre-collision alert was sounded shortly.
    5. I intervened by immediately applying brakes.
I started this thread because I was wondering if someone else has ran into this issue, and if there are stories or comments anyone is interested to share. If this problem is common, I hope it can draw attention from Toyota developers (if they aren't already aware of it by analyzing vehicle telemetry).

EDIT - I understand that dynamic radar cruise control is not intended to be trusted as "autopilot" and is only meant to be used under full driver supervision. However, the possibility of it unexpectedly accelerating is unsettling.

So, if I understand correctly, you were allowing the adaptive cruise to control the truck as you approached stopped traffic at a light? Ummm…not a good idea.

Adaptive cruise can be a handy feature, but I don’t use it around traffic. It’s much too aggressive both braking and accelerating, IMO.

When the car in front of your changed lanes out of your lane, the cruise control should have waited a second or two to check if the road ahead is clear and then act accordingly.

I haven't had this exact situation scenario happen at a stop light, but when on a highway, it's not a problem when car in front of your moves away from your lane and there's another car in front of your truck. No complaints so far

Good to know. This is what I found from looking up the text in the manual.
They were pretty clear about dynamic radar cruise control not being able to avoid collisions.

It happens all the time, someone cut in front to exit and once it’s clear, truck will downshift and full throttle. I personally never use DCC unless it’s an open freeway, check ur owner’s manual, my 2.5 will disengage DCC under 35 mph and pre collision braking will not fully stop the truck.
Toyota make sure you have to last control, to stop getting lawsuits.

Hey Dude look its electronic software and cameras you are going to see that hole and speed up an i like you have to baby sit it too! I had the same problem as you! Dig this I was in a hailstorm a couple weeks ago and the display and front camera went into defect mode threw up warning triangle on display and heavy rain hail and heavy clouds and I thought the camera and sensors had gone haywire But the hail had packed up on over the front cam and sensors and after a while getting out of the storm everything went back to normal! You approach a stop light in Cruise Control and expect the truck to stop there for you?? That's probably your first mistake LOL
