Is this a replacement for the iforce badge or are you placing on a flat hood with no badging?

I just want a regular hood. I’ve decided that I hate the plastic on my hood.

How did you get the Off Road Letters to fit? They won't fit on mine. Thank You

What did you use for the background? Was it vinyl wrap? If so, does it adhere well with heat? lastly, what did you use to adhere the letters? Sorry so many questions. Thank You

Thank you to the many members in this thread who served as inspiration for me to jump in and modify my own set of vents.

Amazing work!!!! Pls let us know your process! The lights are fantastic too! Very interested in learning how you got the new text “Tundra” perfectly aligned in the TRD part, without needing to worry about the previous TRD pro stippled background

Have you already mounted them to your truck? You wouldn't happen to live in So Cal, would you?

Thanks for your post @TacomaTRD4x402 ! I still haven’t mounted the parts to my Tundra. Have been searching for the right parts and process to make the change from Pro to Offroad or something new. I ordered some Amazon and ebay parts but some clearly looked fake (TRD lettering font etc) and others sizing was off etc. I don’t want to mount letters to a damaged digicamo backing after removing the PRO. Definitely got inspired by @theTupper ’s new build, looks super clean. I don’t live in SoCAL I’m afraid! However I’m definitely willing to ship my parts as needed for some quality work!

How hard is it to remove?

Couldn't say as the one installing the PPF removed it, but I would think some heat to make the double-sided tape easier to separate and the bolt/nut on the underside.

    Easy peasy.

One 10mm nut (under the hood liner on the underside of the hood). Pop the clip that holds the hood liner and reach in there with a socket. After that, it's just clips and 3m tape. Mine came up with minimum effort.

    Heat the 3m tape?

I was prepared to, but I didn't end up needing to. The factory installed tape on my existing iForce badges seemed to be there in spirit only. It came off clean with literally NO resistance.

Does anyone know if both TRD and Pro lettering are removable with screws or does one need to be filed out? I might be a complete insert from someone, but prefer to buy the hood vents myself for cheaper.

I saw a website somewhere that sells these vents with customizable inserts. Can’t remember the site though. They had a template if you wanted to drill the holes too.

Both TRD and PRO are plastic welded via plastic rivets in on the back side. A dremel made easy work of removing them. <5 min.

Rave has 3d printed ones. I don’t personally like them. I laser cut some blank inserts for mine and cut vinyl for the wording so I could change color/design on the cheap in the future if I want. DM me if you want some. I could hook you up. (See my build thread for details on what’s involved).

    Hey there Jim,

I did not. Got caught up with too many other mods. It is still on the list to just see if matches up. Need to find someone local who has theirs removed. Don't really want to buy one and it not fit.

I can’t believe this thread is still a going thing.

So many poseurs. The kind of guys who buy a V6 model Mustang or Camaro and put GT or SS badges on it.

    You’re only playing pretend.

I don't think it's being a poser. If you read through the thread you'll see lots of mention of removing the "Pro" and replacing it with something else. It's for the aesthetics. Does swapping out my Sport grille to a Pro grille make me a poser? If so than that would probably make more than 90% of the Tundra community posers.

Technically the TRD pro are posers too. The hood vents on the pro also does nothing.

The non functional vents hint at more power and torque. But yeah, they’re non functional.

I just bought a set from Rave, but curious why you don't like their vents. You got me second guessing my purchase now.

    Lol :anonymous:

I've got a 2.5 gen and stumbled into this thread and it got my curiosity juices flowing. If you see my posts early on in here, you'll see what I'm trying to find out. Just want to find out if these things match up to the 2.5 gen hood curve.

    See post # 72 and 74

Are you asking to meet up late at night alone so you can see if they'll fit on your hood before I install them?
