I suppose I have a long wait. It did not come with the second FOB.

I bought my Platinum 3 weeks ago and receive one FOB. At signing I was told the second FOB would be delivered soon. I thought the dealership was kidding about waiting for a second key and thought they just lost it.

I thought the same thing until I saw the little sticker on the side window that told of the fob policy

I called mother Toyota customer service and was told sometime in February, then told March….still waiting, purchased 11/23. Dealer has no clue about when it will show up.

So, I guess if you bought in 11/23 then it was produced prior? And the key is available?

It basically said Toyota’s policy of 1 key fob. I removed it, so can’t quote it.

This whole nonsense of not getting a second fob while fobs are available for purchase at the dealer is bs.

I guess I just struggle with the fact that it took 7 years to put a man on the Moon and 8 months to catch up on FOBs.

I bought a '24 Tundra last December. Still waiting. I called the dealership and they have FOBs instock to sell, but mine is being handle thru the "recall system" and they don't have a FOB for me in there.

So I can buy one for $233 + programming. I wrote the sales/parts managers that this was ridiculous that I can buy a new FOB but you can't give me a FOB I already paid for? Ridiculous.

Just got told by my dealer that my key was supposed to be available in March, but Toyota is claiming a chip shortage again and they don't know when I'll get my second key. This is the worst experience I've had with an auto manufacturer. Even the crappy manufacturers are delivering with 2 keys. This is not a good look Toyota.

So I got my Limited at the end of March. Dealer said Toyota would contact me about the 2nd Fob. Do I need to do anything or just hurry up and wait?

I called Toyota customer service again this morning and now after telling me Feb, Mar. they are saying the delay is being stretched further now end of May or June…purchased in Nov. 2023. I gave up and bought a second one. Fob and programming here was approximately 335.00….so pathetic. They should just keep the second fob and reimburse me for the one I purchased.

Thus far my experiences purchasing a Platinum have not been customer friendly. I was informed about the second key not being with the truck after paperwork was signed and was ready to leave dealership with a new truck. I was told the second key would be given to me within a week or two. Took the truck in to change the oil at 1000 miles, the oil was not changed, one of my two free oil changes were used and had to go back and pay for an oil change. Also, my passenger rear quarter panel is trying to fall off and was told an ordered part would be in and truck repaired by the end of March. Guess what, part is still not at the dealership. I get plenty of customer satisfaction surveys though.

It is my understanding that when you get the letter that your VIN group is eligible, you take that to the dealer, along with the receipt for the one you bought, and they’ll do exactly that. If it is the same dealership, you probably won’t need the receipt. The fob isn’t pre-programmed, so they can use it for someone else in line (or restock parts dept from the one you bought).

I bought my 2024 in DECEMBER and just got my 2nd FOB on Wednesday. Had to call the dealer every week to finally get it. Did the recall at the same time but it’s nuts that people are spending this much on a truck and the having to put up with this.

Well at least this post answered my questions on my second key fob, comes down to “you will get it eventually”. Could get upset but that surely wont get it here any faster. Thanks for all the info!

If you went ahead and got a 2nd FOB - (I have a 2024 Toyota Tundra 1794 Limited Edition) - 1. where did you get it from (buy it instead of waiting), and 2. - How do you program it?

    Thanks

Oddly enough, some dealerships have them in stock for purchase. You then have to pay them for the programming.

It’s not the DEALERSHIPS! It’s Toyota. I don’t get it but blaming dealerships is incorrect as they have nothing to do with it. It’s the factory.

All I know is, I was supposed to get mine in March and it’s almost June with no key in sight. Going on 6 months of ownership on the 25th of May.
