If you have a Service Dog with you and there are no signs at all about “Service Dogs” on the premises they legally are not supposed to ask for paperwork

Not true. The free range kind parenting BS started in our generation. I also think the whole limiting family sizes to 1 or two kids doesn't help. How do you teach an only child to share and have empathy? It's not easy and many parents fail at it.

It tried to snow here last night, I think...now it's trying again. We were just at 80* the other day. 1-2" expected Friday night into Saturday, but I doubt it will accumulate.

I'd have the dog's papers at all times, but they can't ask what your need is for the dog.

Legally they cannot ask you what the dog is needed for. You can ask what the dog can do though.

Boy, are we finding that out. Not sure where we've gone wrong but our oldest is so self centered and spoiled. She's throwing a bunch of tantrums today because my wife is trying to plan her brothers' birthday party instead of playing with her. My wife is staunchly against physical discipline but she's apparently on the verge of spanking this brat.

Well, I will disagree with your statement. The kids (mine are not, and will not) are brought up as snowflakes as it's being condoned everywhere - to include schools....yet schools fail to do shit about bullying, but they will be the first ones to take a stand against a kid who said he now is a cat. These type of kids now think this is normal, and probably how we were all brought up.

Hell, I saw a puppy at Buc-e's the other week. The dog wasnt vested, and was being held in the arms of one of the kids. I still asked before petting it and letting it nibble on my finger lol.

What the dog can do? Interesting question that I have not heard yet. I take both my dogs with me everywhere I go except on a plane. I refuse to pay that much for travel or to risk their lives on an airplane. Too many horror stories I have read about dogs passing while on the plane.

So what are the common answers? Sit? Shake hands? Go for the Juggler?

EDIT: Just talked to my wife about it and she said yes they can ask what they can do. Rules are online and I was not directly involved in the Service Dog transistion since I have to make some money at times. LOL

Yeah, I guess my previous post made it sound like that rule only applies to service dogs, but it's universal for all pets. Don't touch without permission.

I used to be the Director of Security for an extremely busy mall. Our code of conduct did not permit animals (the exception, as written was service animals). Anytime I would ask (when I knew it wast a service animal) I would get blank stares, or "sit" (as the dog was sitting). Nah, they were full of it. I would kindly ask them to leave with the animal. In addition to the liability (as animals can bite) they would shit throughout the mall.

On the hind site, I would lose my shit as I would sit on cameras looking for animals in vehicles on hot days. Then I would go take the temp reader, take a temp, photograph it, and have my PD guys (we had a sub station at the mall) come and start writing tickets to everyone for me. Loved it.

Ok crew, since we are speaking about dogs, the backyard is about done (again.) The goal is to keep the dogs off of the turf, and encourage them use the gravel area we had added on the side of the house. I have ordered some doggy grass pads and we have been taking them on the leash. Although, the bigger dogs absolutely refused to use the rocks yesterday and decided to use our nice (new) white rug to shit on. I have been shopping around on Amazon. Maybe some noise sensors around the turf or something?

Why not just get pet friendly turf that you can hose off periodically?

Thats what I got on Amazon for the pit area. (a large pad).
The turf I purchased, and had installed is pet friendly too. I am also capping off some of the back sprinklers, but leaving a couple around it on. Just less of a mess to pick up / hose off.

Normal potty training - - If they poop somewhere they're not supposed to, put it where it belongs until at least their next poop (and not just the trash), so they can know where it's supposed to go; for at least a few poops, put them on a leash when they need to go and only let them go where they're supposed to. They'll have an opinion, but if they're good dogs they'll go with yours if they know what it is.
