Pro Speed tries to upsell on their equipment. The stock fuel rails are fine, lots of us are still running them. You could drop in some trd green 535cc injectors or go with DW 650cc to have more head room, which is what I would do.
The Lexus has a 992k ecu so I believe hpt will read it and a tune could be written.
You should reach out to ott or vftuning to see what options for tuning.
Good luck and I'm sure others will chime in.

Yes, it's running all the way to 6800, on another run it did hit 18.7 These temps are great for boost!!

Appreciate the response. That's what I thought. And that's the basic idea I had: injectors and an actual tune just to get things dialed in is all I want.

Yeah, your current setup is decent and with 650 injectors will make it reliable.
@snivilous is our go to tuner/engineer/fabricator on the forum and I believe he was planning on 'charging his Lexus 460. It depends on what can be done and what options your looking at.

And just to be clear, I'm far from the only one that can tune your truck. I'll walk you through all the options, there's a lot of different paths and costs to entry so other people may offer services that suit you better.

To add to what Mdl said, Prospeed is definitely known to try and push their products so what you said sounds pretty par for the course. Even if you don't upgrade injectors there are benefits to a tune, not the least of which at least you can know exactly how the truck is running and IF it's worth looking at injectors at all. The tuning process will let you see where the reliability cliff is and just better inform you, plus other benefits in general.

Thanks for confirming! Yeah, I figured a proper tune is definitely beneficial. Im just glad there are options since tuning toyotas seems to be not as popular or not as easy as GM/Ford/Mopar. Heck, even euro vehicles have piggybacks and native tuning. Every performance/modified vehicle I've had has been tuned.

I can't help but feel that my LX feels better after a battery disconnect, resetting things. And after a few drive cycles it seems to adapt down, maybe pulling timing or something. That's using only premium fuel (93 in south texas).

I try to provide as much unbiased information as I can :D It's hard to work and make decisions if you don't know all the variables. Some people may not care for it, but if it was me I would appreciate getting a full lay of the land, plus it's more efficient to do one huge wall of text instead of three days with one sentence questions/answers back and forth hahaha

Would it be too much to ask for elaboration on " credits"?

I do want to thank all who post the information in this thread.

I want to apologize if I should have done a search ahead of time.

    Thanks

Some of us may be biased on what we like.
I did mention some other tuning options that I know of. But I know you lay out all the options for one to consider.

I was was just laughing about @snivilous being blatantly frank that it was a wall of text. He's very detail oriented and quite verbose when he gets on a roll discussing something he's passionate about, not to mention he's generous with his knowledge. All of us appreciate that about him. We all know that when he posts updates on his other projects, you'd better be sitting down when you read them as there's a lot of great information (and pictures).

I believed what I was told and ran the stage 1 Harrop untuned for a year and yes, it “works”. By “works”, I mean the engine didn’t blow up and didn’t throw any codes.

But once I logged via HP Tuner, the injectors were at 100% duty cycle and it was knocking all over the map. Oh yeah and power enrichment didn’t occur until 70% throttle. I’m @snivilous tuned now and PE starts at 30% throttle, timing is in check and the cylinders have enough fuel that pistons won’t melt/die. DW650 injectors, Harrop supplied DW300 fuel pump, larger intake and a tune is all you need.

Awesome feedback! Glad to hear from another Harrop owner. I'm definitely going to buy the dw 650cc injectors and get in touch with snivilous. Need to purchase hpt and test whether or not it'll even connect and perform a read. From what I've read I don't need credits to try a read on the ecm.

Correct, you don’t need to buy credits to run the scanner.
But the stock O2 sensors only read down to 11.9 AFR. You’ll need a wideband to read below that threshold, which is where our engines need to be under boost for reliability.

Yeah we discussed that too. My plan is to get a wideband that works with the hpt prolink so the logs I send him will have the afr logged in it natively.

Similar experience to what I found. I installed DW650's at install time with my Harrop, but my first tune only adjusted the injector constant.

Start, ran, and drove great. But it also pinged a decent amount at higher RPMs. I'm sure the knock sensor would have pulled it back in time, but also much leaner than I wanted.
