My route would never touch I-70, so tunnel traffic wouldn't be an issue. It'd be I-15 that'd be the messy/busy part. Still not a big deal because I don't mind going slow. As long as it's not a parking lot I am fine.

I have never flown Delta, but hear good things. Domestically I try to fly Alaska or United (in that order), but will take Southwest or Delta if needed. JetBlue is also great.

Never flown Frontier, but haven’t heard anything good from those that have.

For what you want to do, I would pick whatever airline goes to an airport other than LAX.

Ya they can. I think the last one was around $250-300 for two of us. Next year (20) I think we’re going to HI

It would replace the current bike. I dig my little CB500X, and it's been great to get back into riding, but it's not the happiest at anything much over 60-65 MPH. That, and I have learned that I absolutely despise chain maintenance. I would be stepping up to a Yamaha Super Tenere. Bulletproof bikes that go for 100K miles pretty commonly.

The big thing that makes me want to jump on it now is that there's a couple bikes that are smokin' deals.

I’m trying to convince the wife still for a bike. She’s scared I’ll kill myself. I told her there are plenty out there where I can tame myself as I can only do so much. Hopefully next year when we’re out of this shit state, she’ll say yes.

If I get a Super Tenere the CB500X will be going up for sale. It's a perfect starter bike, and plenty quick without being stupid.

It's about as quick as my WRX was off the line. Feels much faster since you're out in the air. I also share your wife's worry though. Not sure a bike would be healthy for you. You'd want something bigger and faster in no time.

We had that hit about 18 months ago. Brutal. Think my mortgage has gone up 30-35% since we refinanced about 12 years ago. That’s all taxes and insurance…

I created that account with that name and image as a tribute to @War Machine 's dedication to it. I'm on here far more and wanted the avatar and user name to represent me better.

I'm sure you know, but I was just picking on you because I have done the same thing so many times. Truth be told though, I actually do have a tad bit of shame with how much money I have wasted over the years

I've wasted plenty. I had one car for 12 years, then in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2023 I bought brand new vehicles. Plus two side by sides. You're doing okay, Tyler.

If I was ever in the market and/or in good enough shape to ride again, I'd go for a Kawi 1400 GTR, or better yet, a ZX1400R with a few small mods to make it a bit more touring friendly.
The ZX is the opposite: it doesn't feel fast. Twist the throttle from 50 mph and within 3 sec you're at 120 without realizing it. It's like floating on a cloud. Monstrous power & torque and smooth as butter. Nothing like the crazy little 600 I had back in 08.

    Deep thoughts.
I mowed the lawn today, and after doing so
I sat down and had a cold beer.
The day was really quite beautiful, and the drink facilitated some deep thinking.
My wife walked by and asked me what I was doing,
    and I said, "Nothing."
The reason I said "nothing" instead of saying "just thinking" is because she then would have asked, "About what?"
At that moment, I would have needed to clarify that men ponder deeply on diverse subjects, sparking further inquiries.
Finally I pondered an age old question: Is giving birth more painful than getting kicked in the nuts?
Women always maintain that giving birth is way more painful than a guy getting kicked in the nuts, but how could they know?
Well, after another beer, and some more heavy deductive thinking, I have come up with an answer to that question.
Getting kicked in the nuts is more painful than having a baby, and even though I obviously couldn't really know, here is the reason for my conclusion:
A year or so after giving birth, a woman will often say, "It might be nice to have another child."
But you never hear a guy say, "You know, I think I would like another kick in the nuts."
    I rest my case.
Time for another beer. Then maybe a nap.

I have heard this argument before, and although at a glance it seems to make sense, if you go deeper it doesn't actually make any sense at all. When you get a kick in the nuts, all you get is pain. When you give birth there is pain, but they're also is life coming into existence, life that you and your loved one helped create. I suppose if you got kicked in the nuts and a gold bar dropped on the ground then it would be similar to giving birth.

If I liked the rearward controls I'd probably get the Yamaha FJR1300. Sat on one of those and the Super Tenere next to each other, and I liked both. I just prefer the foot controls to be more mid with an upright riding position. My knees cramp up if I tuck my feet back on that kind of bike. That, and I need something that can handle the road I live on.

Very pretty. I'm not big on sport bikes, though. Much prefer the ADV category, and I really like the Super Tenere looks. Sure, I'd prefer the looks of the Africa Twin, but they don't make that in a shaft drive.

Here's a couple stock pics of the Super Tenere.

And this is the one I am thinking of buying.
