    Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum, and hope to get some advises from everyone!
I've never owned a truck before, and the whole reason I am thinking of getting a truck is to tow some cars to be serviced if needed + some furnitures and woods.

Here's the one I found, 244k miles for 2K USD, not sure if it's Worth it of getting it and fix it up myself?

    Welcome From MA!
Doesn't look like a can of worms I'd be interested in opening
The one pic of the exterior looks nice but so many unknowns frame condition(rust),suspension (lift, ball joints, tie rods),drive train, and that engine noise
Just sounds like it would a be a money pit but may be worth checking it out in person for 2k

One little tidbit of info is that the 1GR-FE 4.0L V6 has shimmed solid lifters, not hydraulic. So the chances of the noise being a collapsed hydraulic lifter is very slim.

At that mileage, I’d budget for dropping a good used engine into it, and if you’re up for that project and the rest of the truck checks out, it may not be too bad.

It’s certainly not the ideal spec’d Tundra for towing, so look carefully at it’s tow rating and see if it will do what you’re hoping for.

Sounds like a rebuilt motor would be in the picture, some of the noise sounds like an exhaust leak. Frame? Transmission? Front suspension? If you want a project if the frame is good low ball them and then get busy replacing STUFF!:)

    Busy

    fixed it,, fricken fingers!!!!

Pass. Wrong vehicle to tow cars with. Also has potentially a major mechanical problem. Unless you are mechanically handy (like engine swap handy) and have a spare 4.0 laying around, this will get expensive quick. If they managed to kill the engine, imagine what kind of shape the rest of the truck is in. They didn't post many pictures for a reason.

300 hectares on single tank of kerosene
The sound of the engine alone would make it a no-go for me.

$2000 is cheap, dirt cheap, but you are going to have your hands full with this one.
