I love the chrome on my capstone. Its one of the reasons I bought it. Not too much, not too little. In my 60s so maybe its just my era. Is it just me?

My grandfather loved the chrome in his TRD off-road. He didn’t like the TRD sport color match much. He’s 75.
I hate the chrome. It just looks dated. I specifically ask for the TRD sport for the color match when I talked to my salesman. I’m 30 now. 28 when I got the truck. Looks sportier without chrome. Personal preference. Maybe it is an age thing. :hattip:

Yeah, might be the era a little but it's personal preference like anything else. My dad is 72 and he likes trucks with more chrome on them as well. I'm kinda the opposite. I also don't really care for the 1794 or any "Ranch" edition that kinda looks like Garth Brooks would drive it. I prefer the blacked out /body color look myself.

I don’t mind it on vehicles pre-80’s. Also motorcycles.

Im also in my 60's and like a little bit of chrome. I have chrome door handles on my MGM Tundra and love it.
Originally traded my black handles from my silver sky Tundra and swapped them out when i traded that truck in.

Dont really care for the chrome grill, but cant justify the cost of a new unit. Think as long as one doesnt go overboard
on the chrome it looks ok, just my 2 cents.

I don't mind chrome it looks really good on some vehicles just not mine. The other issue I have is most of it is not chrome just Shiny plastic. Which gives it a very cheesy look.

Trucks went crazy with chrome for a while to the point of being tacky. And it is all plastic not real chrome anyway

Trend now is rugged looking vehicles. That kills the chrome

For Tundra the mustache in plastic chrome is hideous. You gotta hide that design flaw.

I hate black plastic cladding and wheel arches just as much. The new 4Runner black wheel arches are more hideous than chrome

Yards of plastic in any hue on the exterior is cheap looking and ages very poorly

Doesn’t bother me really, if I had my pick I would do smoked chrome like the platinum (not the dark fender flares tho those look odd to me).

One trend bothers me more than any other combined….BLACK WHEELS…so so so personally disturbing, I don’t get it, and wish it would stop. They just look like they are caked with brake dust

I like the chrome on my 2nd gen limited but Toyota went freaking crazy on the 2.5 gen those remind me of my uncles Kenworth when I was a kid

I'm old and prefer no chrome for reasons already mentioned. My previous vehicle was a 2011 white Scion XB and during ownership I removed/changed anything that wasn't white or black(back then it didn't seem as popular as is now). But, my vehicles before that I didn't care one way or the other.

Although, I say if you like chrome, do it, enjoy it, and don't give a crap what anyone else thinks.

I don’t have a problem with black wheels more so thag every manufacturer now puts them on everything. Minivans have black wheels now and I get they are trying to appeal to the masses but at some point we need to draw the line. It’s the same with like the bardo grey color, it was super cool till everyone started using it on every car. Just loses its uniqueness.

I cannot adequately explain my absolute and unwavering disdain for chrome, but it is visceral and real. I don't begrudge anyone wanting chrome but I choose to remove every single piece of chrome on my vehicles immediately after purchase. It started when I bought my 2014 4 runner; it was midnight black and I murdered it out completely. Black TRD rims, grill color matched, black overlays on all badges, etc. It looked amazing to me and I fell in love with that vehicle. Sadly it was totaled two days after I paid it off and I got the tundra, which I immediately purchased the cement color matched options and debadged to rid the truck of chrome.

a lot to process there. That’s kinda how I feel about the cement grays and lunar rock colors from all the vehicles on the road now. The new underground color doesn’t look bad tho

It's definitely a generational thing. I'm 62 and like the chrome on my 1794. The current mono-tone fad makes vehicles look cheap to me. Definitely subjective.

Styles change. Chrome was hot once but so were Fins on cars and Coppertone & Avocado Green kitchen appliances.

Mark my words. Chrome will make a comeback within a decade. But only because the Sun’s rays are getting too intense and we have to reflect it back into the atmosphere

Even my loaner 2024 Platinum from last week had minimal chrome and the chrome it did have on the grille was a dark chrome.

I did the same to my truck too. It's a 1794, so insert Buzz Lightyear meme stating "chrome everywhere." Can't show a pic right now but got rid of all the chrome, inside and out, except for the 1794 badging on the side of the truck. Still contemplating that one. Just gotta find the right method for longevity and price.

As far as chrome goes for me, I'm actually coming around to black chrome or dark bronzed chrome.

I did keep my 5.7 badge, god forbid anyone think I had a 4.6.:eek2:
I had some dechromed 5.7 badges custom made, but I never did put them on.
