I have a 23 platinum hybrid with advanced package. I’ve been having electrical issues where the battery keeps dying. Once it died while having music going for about 15 mins in accessory mode.

about a month ago it wouldn’t start after being parked for a week (Toyota told me this is normal with new vehicles which I called bs)

Yesterday I had my truck in accessory mode while pumping gas… died in that time. So dead the running boards wouldn’t fold out.

today my truck randomly died and I can’t get it to start even with a boost pack.

any recommendations on a good battery. It goes to the shop tomorrow… or today if I can’t get it started.

    thanks.

X2Power AGM from Batteries Plus. BTW I have a hybrid and have the same issue also. I am thinking of upgrading to this.

Both the non-hybrid and hybrid use LN4/H7/94R size batteries.

The Non-Hybrid specs an EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) While the Hybrid specs a normal Flooded Battery.

On the hybrid the safest thing to go with a normal H7 lead battery with better specs than the factory. Otherwise you can try an AGM H7 battery to see if that holds out better. You can go up (SLA -> EFB -> AGM) but you can't go down (EFB-> SLA) I only say "safe" as in I'm not sure the Charging profile of the Hybrid is optimized for AGM requirements, the AGM should work fine otherwise.

Do you happen to have the Toyota dashcam? I'm finding mine is drawing a lot of power while the truck is off and its in parking mode.

I have an aftermarket one. It shits down when truck is off. But regardless 5 mins is insane

I know have a hybrid malfunction and can’t jump it. Waiting for a tow…

Yeah you can always swap out for a AGM battery but it sounds like there is a bad parasitic draw on the battery somewhere. Should have the battery tested as well.

Checking the amp draw with my clamp meter on the my non-hybrid in accessory mode is draining about 9AMPS from the battery.

However in the hybrids probably better to avoid accessory mode and just leave the ignition on, the engine should shut off and continue to power the 12v system from the hybrid battery.

    What size is that?

And what's the 250 amp fuse block wired to?

Looks like a clean set up!

thanks! That 0-gauge feeds my JY-power which in turn feeds my amps.
The battery model is a 94R (specifically ODP-AGM 94RHZL4) I think there’s a similar one that’s 94R-850 but not sure of any actual differences between them

whats the real life benefit of AGM in a non-hybrid over the enhanced flooded spec?

slower drain time, less chance for corrosion, and the high demand I have on the electrical system with my sound system (1800 watts between the two) was enough for me. I disabled my start stop but that’s also another benefit where AGM is better.

Where did you get the bracket to hold the fuse block?
