I been sold on Toyota for several years, but now I am second guessing it. Poor service when it comes to recalls and having to take my truck back several times to the dealer and then the website for checking for recalls is not working.

Bad dealers plague every brand. With all the buyouts bad mega dealers spread their poor customer service like the plague.

In addition to my Tundra, I have a RAM for towing the horse palace. Recalls are a plague & my local dealership needs help with its customer service. Sound familiar?

I worked with some guys years ago that went to one Cleveland Cavaliers game a year. One day they were all sitting around belly aching they couldn't get tickets that year even though they were loyal fans. They were so pissed their loyalty was going unnoticed by the team.

Dealers are the worst part of owning a Toyota, IMO.

That statement isn’t necessarily true with the other manufacturers.

I have lived where I live the for 8 years. In that period I have dealt with 2 Ram dealers, Nissan, GM and Toyo (2 different owners) service departments and they all have sucked. Some of consistently some occasionally and in different ways.

Good help like a dealer with good service is hard to find...the Lexus store will treat you better but you'll pay for it...all dealers are struggling to staff as young people don't want to work especially if they have to get their hands dirty.

I think you can make more in fast food than being a service advisor. Every trip now a different person. Most times a trainee.

WSJ had an article recently that says this trend turns backward. I'm not surprised. When I took a welding class 1.5 years ago, there was a 19 y.o. guy helping the teacher. He was in his last year in tech school and already booked, for six digit salary, insurance, 401k, etc. Apparently, no school debt. Contrary, finish a college and try to find any job.

I dunno man. My recalls come in the mail and the app… and I get them done during normal service. Haven’t had any issues.

You can also use the app to check for recalls. Super easy to see too. Suggest giving it a try and find a new dealer that might be able to give you better service.

Everything sucks when the issues start piling on. Shit can be extremely frustrating. Especially when you pay so much for something. Hopefully you can catch a break soon. I’ve been on both ends of these things

I also don’t trust Toyota dealers any more than any other dealer. I trust the vehicle itself a hell of a lot more though. But everything can have issues

When my dealership was built, it was branded the first 'green' auto dealership.
Built with recycled stuff and built to save energy with water recycling car wash.
Free car wash with every service visit..

Last year the owners closed the car wash.
They used it as a selling point to help sell cars, then shut it down.

I saw that, trades are gaining by like 16-20%, people are realizing you can make a good living without college or college debt.

that said, I have a degree and so does everyone I hire, but we aren't in the trades.

Toyota dealers in the Tampa area have turned me off to them from the sales side. They are all sticking with adding thousands of $$ to the MSRP which they now call SRP. SRP is whatever they make up above MSRP.

To continue the CarFax record of Toyota service, I had my oil changed and tires rotated at a local dealer. The 2018 only has 37,000 miles on it at the time. The tech who did a video of the work recommended that it it get an alignment every 15,000 miles and induction servicer every 20,000. I laughed and said no to the service adviser.

Bottom line, it depends on your dealer. I'm doing myself or finding an independent next.

I did get a car rinse (not really washed) where they did take the antenna off but forgot to put it back on.

It’s a great thing to see. I hate it sometimes but I love it too. One thing I’ve been in the same trade for 12 years now, I do feel a bit trapped that I have no other options where I could do something else even come close to earning the same amount of money, not really qualified for to much else. Would that be different though if I had a degree? I’m not sure.

depends on the degree I think, some are more directly useful than others.

my industry is directly related and uses the applicable degree for example.
