We are getting the garden all setup. We are on the same page with you about self sufficient. I started doing my own vehicle maintenance and hunting too. Going in on a cow and pig with the in laws. Takes a tribe.

Stock, with a few cosmetic mods.
Nothing substantial, just did the spring clean on my shed. Moved the snow blower from the garage to the rear of the shed. Pulled out some lawn furniture, r&r belts on the mower, sharpen blades, etc.

The wind and rain just sucked today, putting up the flashing and tyvek was a kick in the balls.

Rather than going with SFPs, why not just get one of their $13 DACs? More cost-effective and virtually guaranteed compatibility.

Ubiquiti is king. I'm all Unifi at home, and do enterprise/SOHO installs on the side. Have helped members here get up and going and cycle thru equipment occasionally in the Marketplace (have a UCK over there now).

I avoided doing my own for the longest time, now my main 9-to-5 finally laid me off, I'll be dumping more work into tidying up the cable closet, running drops for more cams, cleaning up my patch panel, tidying up cable routing, etc. (I've got all the stuff, but "cobbler's children have no shoes”, ya know). I've dropped some other pics over in the 1st Gen lunch table a few times as I've been rolling thru things, recent pic below.

@Kung, if not already planning to, it's worth spending the extra $$ on the UDM-SE vs. regular UDM Pro. It'll add enough PoE ports to run several APs or other devices at no extra expense, no extra hardware.

The only thing I haven't dabbled with at this point is their IDM or access control products. The stuff they offer is stupid-awesome. Little bit of investment up front, but absolutely bulletproof hardware, only gripe is "not in stock" happens far too often and alerts for "back in stock" are hit/miss.

PS on the home tech front, if anyone wants to dabble with virtualization, I have a QNAP TVS-871 (not pictured) NAS I can part with, gimme a shout. If you're in the ATL area, I can even populate it with a shedload of 6TB disks, a gig-eth expansion card, and some 2.5" Samsung Pro SSD for caching purposes. I looove technology ...

    Ohh yeah!
Believe it or not that is 60+ year old cedar clipboard.
Some of the sheeting was rotting and needed to be replaced, there wasn't any tarpaper or felt between the sheeting and cedar.

Speakers, amp, subs, floorboard lights...and the little step thing under the bumper
Placed large stone pavers and pebble path, where we removed cracking sidewalk (tree roots damaged them). We'll eventually replace the entire sidewalk. These were larger ones off a pallet we got for the planter...it's almost finished, but my wife won't let me post anything till it's done!PXL_20240406_233531499.jpg

Cedar is so awesome to work with too. Great color, again... like I think that would be in my top 3 combos right there
At least you had a dry spot right there in the garage to make your cuts  Way to stick it out in the weather.

    Oops, I did it again…

Went to the Home Despot and got another tub for the garden. Same thing as last time. Drilled some drain holes, plastidip sprayed the inside and bottom. Then four bags of dirt and relocating several succulents from the patio planter.

So the two big ones on the left started out as just one tiny little three leaf branch that my girlfriend found in the street about a year and a half ago. And now they are monsters.

    IMG_0291.jpg

    IMG_0290.jpg

Also went to the local plant nursery and bought some worms and lady bugs for all the planters.

    Played in the yard today:
Garden lights back out, put bark down this year. Also caught the stray cat in this pic that my wife feeds. Lights are white but look amber for some reason, I had to cover the Eye to get them on.
    20240406_201102.jpg

Looks empty but it fills in with perennial stuff... here is last year June.
    20230604_081911.jpg

Got the fountain running, simple setup I built but it's been one of our favorite things in the back yard with the noise it makes.
    20240406_155637.jpg

Controlled integration weekend for the new little chickens.. our big girls threw a fit squawking their heads off lol.
    20240405_153448.jpg

These two girls only skipped 3-4 days laying in the whole year we have had them, great little egg factories/pets
    20240406_155600.jpg

End with a nice fire (yard cleanup), good day of Sunshine for us up in the Mitten.

Also replaced the “exhaust” fan in the garage. The old one burned out so I got an inline one off Amazon that’ll move 195 CFM.

Nice fountain that is something I always wanted to incorporate in the back yard, the sound of rolling water is such a nice feature.
Low watt lighting is a right of passage for landscaping. Nice inviting yard you got there BroHon.

Cedar,I was on the fence to shingle it but man what a PIA that is.The front of the house is clapboard and the rest is all shakes so I'm going to just replicate.
There were 3 options of mediums to chose from primed finger jointed Cedar, 2 whole primed Cedar or 3 composite which would of been almost 3.5 X the price of finger jointed.
So I went with primed jointed and used Sherwin Williams stain I hit it twice and and when making the cuts yesterday I hit the ends and let it (try to dry) in the rain.
No rain today it'll be partly cloudy and upper 30's hopefully I can knock it out and gear up for the next project.

Thanks! Yeah that and the back patio need a spring bleach n scrub o_O
The fountain gets a lot of drinking and bird bathing, it's a pretty busy hub for critters in the summer.
If things go to plan this will be our last spring here :(, someone is going to get a nice spot.
Then I'll have my retirement to build the next place up... Rural, like maybe even "remote"
There is going to be some violence before the "pecking order" is worked out
Hope it doesn't get too bad:eek:.
