For me personally, a cellphone mount with a built in Qi charger works a lot better than the useless wireless charging pad on the truck. For longer drives it's also nice to have the larger screen have full view maps while the smaller screen has either turn-by-turn directions OR a music app loaded for quick [back, pause, forward] control without taking my hand off the wheel.

One might not want all text messages read aloud in the truck, depending on passengers. Not all apps on phone, work with in the carplay/android auto either.

Shame they don't just offer the arm by itself. I am also running an older gen Tundie.

Do you think this might work for a dash cam? I’m looking for something a bit higher to mount my Vantrue on (currently stuck to top of 14” display).

for me it’s mostly having access to send a quick text back, type in an address, start a specific podcast that doesn’t show up, or find music on Spotify. Very content with my offroam magnetic charging mount. Charges much faster than I expected.

I have the Bullet Point with the powered Magsafe iphone mount and I am very pleased. Installation was a breeze and it has performed flawlessly. The stock wireless phone charger does not work with my (very basic) phone case.

Where did you get the mount that mounts to the arm? Like the piece that would line up the 2 screws on the arms near the ac vent? if that makes sense?

The back of the ESR has the ball opening and I see the piece on bottom left in this pic .. But I dont see holes drilled in the corners to mount to the arms. I see the ICS ones have two holes to align. Did you have to drill holes in the ESR mount and what screws did you have to use to mount ESR to the arms.

If you look at some of the customer submitted photos as part of the reviews, it appears that the mount you are referring to is part of the arm(s) that's included in the package. You will also see that there are holes already pre-drilled, assuming AMPS standard (circled in yellow).

I actually use a Proclip with an ESR mount in my wife's car and am going to convert my Proclip over to be compatible with an ESR mount, just waiting for the parts to come in. For an alternative to the ICS diamond 17mm ball mount, I used this from ebay:

The arms in the picture with yellow circles are upside down and swapped left to right.

I know that the arm has holes in it.. I was referring to the pic of the ball mount in the ERS mount does not. I was wondering as I see screws in @Texas Two Step 's post that his ball is screwed in. So was wondering if he got a separate mount to go behind the ERS mount to attach to the arms.

I would be more than happy to buy yours the only thing is I love the arms on the Amazon one and the ics one. I am not a fan of the tripod looking arms being so bulky. I love the flat arms and no twist knobs. I guess I could buy yours and the amazon one and combine assuming their arms would work.

Do we know if this mount will attach to the top right and bottom left holes of the arms from the Amazon or ICS one ?

The back of the ESR mount is just a 17mm female ball receiver. This then snaps onto the ball mount. So, I'm not sure what other part you're referring to.

    PhoneMountBack.png

I know that ICS uses the AMPS hole standard. Not sure about the Amazon one, but I don't see why it wouldn't. If not, you can use whatever @Texas Two Step used, but he/she never said what ball mount was used. And it looks like the last time there were signed on was Feb 17th.

He has something between the ESR and the arm. The ball is mounted with 2 screws onto the arms.

Also like asked does the 17mm mount from ebay match up with the holes on the arms Top right and bottom left diagonally?

I'm assuming that would be the diamond 17mm ball mount that you pictured:

    upload_2024-4-4_12-29-17.png
or you can source one yourself:

If the Amazon product does use the AMPS hole standard, then yes, it "should" match up.

I just hate to order the ball mount and not line up with the holes. I wish he would chime in and tell us what mount he used.

Yes, 17mm ball mount. You can type in "diamond 17mm ball" in Amazon and it should be one of the first few results for only $9.99.

I made an adapter for the Offroam 20mm ball so you can use 1" RAM couplers and phone mounts with it. Here's a link to the 3D print file if anybody else runs into the same issue. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6564756

Sorry gang. To answer the questions, I bought a 17mm diamond RAM ball mount to connect the ESR to the arms. I got it off Amazon. See the attached pic for the one I bought. The setup is working very well and the ESR with their halo ring makes it compatible with Android phones. Screenshot_20240405-190413_Amazon Shopping.jpg

Yeah.... turns out owning a tundra can get expensive when you start adding toys to it.
