My TRD Pro is 2 yrs old. I never go offroading so all my driving is on paved roads. The ride quality has been comfortable. My truck came with Michelin LTX A/T 2 tires.

I’m shopping for new tires at Costco and see the following options

Michelin LTX A/T 2 (most expensive option at $352 per tire.

Michelin Defender LTX M/S 2. Slightly cheaper at $288 per tire.

Michelin Primacy XC. $286 per tire.

I want the tire that will give the best/comfortable ride but also hopefully last at least 20k miles.

I have seen some reccomend Nitto Grappler tires but don’t see those offered at a Costco. And I’m not sure about ride comfort for those on paved roads.

    Any reccomendations?

I recently replaced my tires with the Defender LTX MS2. Solid thumbs up for this tire. Its seen rain, snow and highways. Replaced factory before winter as they were getting slick on wet roads. Of course, we just haven't seen much snow at all in New England for the second year running.

In fact the snow falling right now is possibly the most we've seen all year. I got them having had great experience with prior generations of the LTX tire

That said, if you live in a warmer snow free zone. the Primacy would do fine for your needs.

Another M/S 2 vote here. I had some put on last fall and didn't even need chains for the snow/ice we had this winter.

Vredestein Pinza AT. Can get in P or LT rating.

P tires I put nothing but Vredestein for the past 5+ years. Quatracs were also good, but Pinza is newer, and they put a lot of research into it.

We run Defenders on the Sequoia and they run quiet and smooth. Great tread wear and lifespan. I'll be puttin on a new set when these go.

Look at H/T tires. Some have aggressive sidewalls that look nice, but with highway oriented tread. Still all weather tires too. I’ve had good luck with cooper evo h/t and Falken h/t I’m running now are nice. 60k mileage warranty iirc.

I did 100k on michelins on a nissan titan before i was seeing steel. I know the cheap walmart goodyear wrangles are a 50k tire.

my ltx m/s from '18 has a 800 treadwear, and basically have full life left. 38psi front 35psi rear. Not enough pressure to be noisy, but enough pressure to roll easy. Never tripped my abs, and cant do a dry burnout without brakes, but i can powerslide in the rain on asphalt pretty predictably with the weight of the cap on the back. Titan is factory sized 18's from a newer year, on cooper evo's, currently, but it's 1 wheel drive & spends its entire life on pavement & will get stuck in wet grass.

My road Queen has Goodyear Steadfast , about 15k on them, great tire. Rode through a storm two weekends ago that featured snow, sleet and freezing rain, no issue ! 70,000 mile tread warranty

The Defender is hands down the best truck/SUV that only sees pavement.

    None....
On my truck the LTX seem to last 60 to 70k and I think they are good on road. Not good off road. I also don't hear much road noise.

Can you post pics? And what size did you decide on? I am in the same predicament. I have a 21 CM (SR5) SX and it came with 255/70/18 (my door panel says 255/70/18!).

I wanted to get a little larger but don't want to sacrifice speedometer, odometer, MPGs with 275/70/18 so thinking of splitting the difference with 265/70/18.

My truck came with Michelin LTX A/T 2 and I absolutely LOVE them, buttery smooth and quiet. I am a KO2 guy but I think from now on I will sacrifice the look over the quality and stay with the Michelin LTX A/T 2

So I’m trying to order Michelin Defenders thru Costco. They are telling me it will take at least 3 weeks to get them as no nearby locations (in Dallas area) has them.

This has me wondering if these tires are not needed for warm climates where we rarely see snow.

Costco rep told me that they sell Michelin XLT A/S 2 and they sell Michelin Defender LTX M/S2. He claims they are the same tire sold under different names but no difference between them. They have same load index, speed rating and warranty mileage.

if I go with the XLT A/S 2 I don’t have to wait 3 weeks like I do with the Defender. They have XLT in stock.

I LOVE my ltx ms2's, but i'm gentle on tires. They did get me through sedona. And i kept my mudflaps. 265/70-16.
