Can I swap an engine from a 2wd model to my 4wd?

Are there any differences in it connecting to the bell housing or transmission?

    What about wiring harnesses?

    They are both 2005

    Thanks in advance

I want to say yes but I'm far from an expert on the matter. Wiring harnesses are usually the thing that get people but with them being the same year they should be the same.

What happened to your old engine?

Edit: I see you made two threads.

I will tell you, that grille on the Waltrip model is worth a mint. As is the exhaust, if OEM.

The 2wd and 4wd engine block to bell housing bolt patterns are exactly the same. The wire harnesses are different between the two models. The difference is that the 4wd engine harness had an additional sub harness that’s located in the main harness loom. Simply unplug the 2wd engine harness off the donor engine, and plug your existing 4wd engine harness to block that was in Dale’s truck.

Pro tip, it’s waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay easier to remove or install the engine harness AFTER you pull the engine out of the truck! Which also means that it’s WAY easier to install your existing 4wd engine harness BEFORE you fit the engine back into the bay! That means you need to unplug the engine harness from the fuse block as well as other ancillary bits, bobs, and sensors. All that is much easier and faster than it sounds.
