Just use a Flipper Zero lol. I would assume it would work.

So how is the metal key supposed to start the truck? I just left the fob inside and went out and used the metal key to open the door and the horn started honking. I'm sure the neighbors loved it. Message on dash said to press ignition button with key. Tried that 5-6 times and it wouldn't start. Held the button down for several seconds too. All the while the horn was blaring! Gave up, ran inside and got the fob.

    How's this supposed to work?

The physical key will only open the doors. You need the FOB to start the engine.

The procedure of touching the FOB to the start button is used if your FOB's battery is drained.

But if the Fob's battery is dead, how does that work? What good is it at that point?

Dude I have bombed through some serious gnar with a magnetic key box for years and never lost a key. Pick a good spot and use a quality magnetic box and losing the key on a rough ride is simply not a concern. If you want extra security you also tape down the box.

I didn’t know magnets don’t work if they get wet :rofl::rofl:Or maybe you meant the water would kill the fob - also not a concern, the fob may not be IPV6 rated but it can handle a good dunking with no ill effects.

But you do you and enjoy that glass bill

It can still start the truck.

You can take the battery out of the FOB, and it will still start the truck by pressing it to the start button. It's pretty ingenious technology really.

You don't have to tow the vehicle because it will actually start and you can drive it away.

Literally had this happen to me last month about 3 hours from home and started getting low battery warnings, then it was completely dead and because I've been on this forum I knew you just touch it to the button and it fired up (could have read the manual too but it was dark and late at night). Still had the trial subscription to the app at the time, so just used it to unlock the doors the rest of the trip.

This would all be great but I have yet to get a second key fob as Toyota has run short. My new Tundra Iforce Max Limited TRD only came with 1 key and a sticker on the window that said Toyoata will send another when they get more!

I'm having an issue with one of my fobs. It won't start the truck even if I hold it right up against the start button.
