I just got my 3" TRD lift installed on my 2024 tundra and purchased some 35x12.5x20R KO2s that I was planning to use the TRD wheels with. When I went to get the tires installed they mentioned that while the tires would fit on the rims, they would likely not fit the the TRD control arm and would rub. I was curious if anyone has been able to accomplish this or if I would need to get spacers or new wheels.

You’ll be fine. Go look on YouTube. There are tons of videos of guys putting 35s on these trucks, even sometimes without a lift. You might have to trim a bit but it won’t be an issue

I just mounted 35x12.5 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on the stock 20" TRD rims with the factory 3" lift installed....today. They fit, but have a slight rub on the sway bar at full turn.

Could you share a picture of the inner side of the front wheel so I can see how close it is to the control arm?

Ill try to snap a pic later when I go out there of the rub. I should receive the wheel spacers tomorrow. I'm hoping that will fix the issue.

Do you think the 11.5" wide version would still rub?

Did you have to remove mudflaps and pin felt liner back?

Once I can confirm these 1" spacers work I'll have a better idea. I imagine they would certainly be at least better. I considered doing that but, I've always gone 12.5 on my trucks and I'm a creature of habit, not to mention I like the way a wider tire looks.

I ruled out the 12.5 simply because they jump to Load F. Is the swaybar the only place you have contact?

I have an appointment at Discount Tire tomorrow....they have 285/65, 295/65 and 35x11.5 in stock...I'm going to get them to test fit first and see which I like better.

Yea, thats the only place. I also did pin back the fenders into the holes next to the crash frame bump out and removed the front flaps.

There is a Summit Racing warehouse nearby that has the 1" Spidertrax spacers in stock. I'm wondering if I should go ahead and buy some to take with me to Discount Tire appointment?

Is the truck still 90% driveable? I don't want to get stuck at the tire shop without spacers if it needs them. If it's not too much rub and it's driveable, I can just add them later.

Its not a problem and you can still drive it on the daily. That was my take going into the tire shop It seems many members have different scenarios. Some people with the same set up dont rub or only rub on one sice. Why?.....I have no idea. I'll just install them myself.

Okay, below are pictures prior to the spacers, then installed and after. Bottom line, 1" spacers fixed the rub.

That's fantastic! Thanks for updating us. How does the overall stance of the truck look now? I think I'll just go ahead and buy the spacers now and take them to the tire shop with me so they can install it all at the same time.

Amazon was supposed to delivery them tomorrow but they ended up coming today. I can never look at parts and not install them the first chance. I thought I'd be able to tell the difference when looking down the side of the truck with them sticking out more and I cant. It is negligible. As to whether I'll buy two more for the rear, I dont plan it, but maybe.

Get the spacers. I have the OEM lift with 285/65R20 (34.7" x 11.6") that the rubbed the sway bar. Spidetrax spacers fixed that but, as @NoHater mentioned, be prepared to pin back the fender well carpet and remove the mud flaps. That seems to be most common amongst those of us w/ the OEM lift and 35s.

Awesome, thanks. I'm having the tires put on 200 miles from home while wife is in business meetings, so I have to go prepared. I will take tools to remove mud flaps - that's easy. I think I have some push-pins for the liner so I can make it look clean and factory. Just push it back against the sheet metal and drill a hole to match where the existing hole is. I was hoping to maybe do that stuff once I got home with it so I wouldn't be rushed and I could make it look nice and neat to satisfy my OCD.

You can totally do the flaps and liner when you get home. The rubbing only occurs at a specific turn angle. Its annoying but not harmful.

I ended up pulling the trigger on new wheels. Went with 18s with a +12 offset and 35x12.5 Toyo AT3s. Extremely happy with the end result. Going to sell the OEM TRD wheels.

Looks awesome! I have been hesitant to swap wheels as I really like the looks of the OEM rims, but I'd prefer 18s and no spacers. Those look great.

Can you share the brand and model?

Thank you! I was also hesitant to swap wheels because I liked the 20s as well, but am very glad I did given that the OEM wheels have a +50 offset and I wanted a little bit of poke. These are the Black Rhino Chambers. The 18s ride extremely well too.
