Sorry man. That totally stinks. Hardest part is the inconvenience for you not having your truck. Can’t imagine how long it will take for them to get a fender and a door. Best wishes.

New here, first post, have not purchased my truck yet in the decision phase...but wanted to comment on this. From personal experience this really sux. About 10 years ago I had a brand new BMW 2 series with 650 miles on it and was rear ended by a lady on her phone. $11000 worth of damage! 1000% yes go for the diminished value...I did. The insurance company will low ball you... but stick to your guns. I do not know about your state, but in mine they have to make you whole, not just repair the damage. I did not keep that car long after the accident as the trade in value would be nothing if I kept it too long. It was fixed and they did a great job, but I am glad the insurance company paid me much more that the repair cost because I had to trade it for $15,000 less than I paid for it.

I think any of us would feel sick at that moment. I probably would not have been as nice as you.
Best of luck with a quick and painless solution.

I feel bad for the OP. That's a horrible thing to have happen. All you can do is get it fixed and move on.

2nd estimate is a little over 9k. For those saying to seek out pdr, you can't tell from the picture but the paint on both panels is cracked and flaking off. It's worse than it looks in the picture. Again thanks for the comments and feedback.

    Update.
My truck is finally fixed and I got 8k for diminished value. I paid 350 to an expert for a diminished value report and a letter to send to insurance. I hope this helps anyone in a similar situation.

    Good to hear OP.
Now you're immune to any other damage that might ever happen to it in the future (hope not!).

    And to lift your spirits:
I got you beat on time/mileage, but not on damage.
I bought my 2022, drove out of the dealership and got on a highway exactly a mile away. Sped up on the on-ramp...and boom, boom!
1 mile and about 3 minutes into the ownership I got hit by 2 rocks right to the sunroof.
2 nice long scratches to this day to remind me of it (not other damage and no breaks, luckily).

I swear I wanted to turn the eff around and say "take it back, I don't want it any more!"

Curious - what company paid 8k for DV here and what state?

Having a new vehicle - it is a strong DV case - but cannot believe many companies willingly paid that without a fight.

Colorado, Travelers insurance. Travelers was the lady that hit my trucks insurance carrier. No fight all, I sent a demand letter with my report and they responded with how would you like to be paid.

Glad you got the DV, OP. I went after the guy who hit me. Dude should never have been behind the wheel. He ran from me but I got lucky and came about finding him close by. His insurance paid for everything to fix my truck including rental. I then asked for DV. First offer was $1,120. I said no and gave them data to back up wanting $3k. Second offer from them was $1,140... Nope, not enough. I got a company that specializes in DV claims to write up a report. They said the DV is $7.6k. I then got a lawyer. Other insurance caught wind of it after we had been chasing the guy down for almost 2 months (have to serve the guy/gal who hit you even though you are suing his insurance) and offered $5k. Nope, right back with my full ask of $7.6k. Next offer was full $7.6k ha His insurance also had to pay for my lawyer fees, vehicle report, servers, etc. So it went from $1,140 to almost $12k out of their pockets. Should have just taken my $3k offer. Idiots. But I could trade my Tacoma into CarMax right now and I would come out $6K ahead of what I paid for it OTD in 2017. It was worth the pain and drawn out ending for sure.

Interesting - no release of claim required?

Colorado can be funny at times - good for you in getting paid here. As mentioned I don’t doubt there IS a loss in value on a new vehicle - just the only established formula (the 17c formula) used in Georgia until a few years- the only state to formally recognize DV in statute) seems to suggest less here.

It’s also important to remember DV is VERY state specific - only 1 state (Georgia) recognizes it in statute. Most it’s “open” with case law - but in California for example
    - it’s 1st party only (your insurance) - most it’s the opposite (3rd party - responsible drivers insurance). With 1st party - it’s almost always written into the policy as being excluded.
