I have a 2023 Limited TRD Offroad. Biggest disappointment is the useless rear bumper. When the tailgate is down there's no place on the bumper to step. And the way the corners are designed leaves little options for a good replacement. Has anyone found a good rear bumper option?

Thank you for the reply. I ran across that a while back. Nice of Toyota to offer a $300 remedy for their own design flaw. They should give that to me for free. I'd rather put the money towards a bumper that's actually useful.

Just because they didn’t include it as a standard option doesn’t make it a flaw. You bought the truck as is while there are other trucks with step bumpers. You’d lose those anyway with a aftermarket bumper. There are also cheaper step alternatives if price is an issue.

I put an AMP Research bed step on mine #75329-01A. Well made, brackets are heavy gage steel, step is aluminum as is the mechanism and all are powder coated black. The step pad has 2 mounting options so you can decide how much you want it tucked under the bumper. Best way to mount it is by removing the left bumper cap which mostly is snapped on. YouTube has videos. Avoid the cheap ones with plastic step pad.

Notice that asterisk about the blind spot monitor? There have been a few reviews from buyers saying they could not get the BSM to work correctly after installing the bumper and Toyota would not assist in recalibration because it's an aftermarket bumper causing the problem.
