5/9 is officially Black Mamba Day. Just like 3/28 is officially Atlanta Falcons Day:rofl:

Found a site that produces the original window sticker. This truck has DLR’s which seems unusual, I don’t see any others of this vintage running around like it?

DRLs? Daytime running lights? Mine has them. Unplugged the harness when I bought it.

I use mine fine with a single car hauler but I need a 2 car enclosed now and it'll be too heavy for my Gen1.

Yep I've done that also. Unfortunately my truck doesn't have ABS and as a very early 1st GEN it had big braking issues. I did the TSB for the oem brake upgrade with crossdrilled slotted rotors, larger calipers and carbon metallic pads, but that uhaul trailer w surge brakes will just push my truck into a slide in a panic stop in the wet. Uhauls trailers already weigh a ton and your truck needs to stop first to make that trailer surge and brake. With my single car trailer which has electric brakes it's ok, but with my 2 car trailer and my 2 collector cars worth 100k on it I would be hard pressed to stop it if the trailer brakes went out. Ole blue has plenty of pull power but stopping is always marginal.

Whatcha got? I actually own around 30 antique cars. Lost track. That's the problem with having owned a restoration shop! When someone wanted to sell their car years after I restored it, if the price was right and I had the room, I bought it back. I already have a 1986 22RE 4x4 Long Bed sitting in the garage, that one only gets used once in a while. It was sold new at the Yota dealer when I worked there. Only had one owner, always serviced at Yota w 320k test miles on it. Was looking for a farm truck years later and found it on C/L. Called my buddy who was still the service manager, he ran the VIN for me and confirmed it's history. My garage is already full and overflowing. Ole Blue has been flawless for the 22 years I've owned her. Sad But Can't keep them all.

Checking in with a sticker stating 02/99 for my '00 Tundra 4x4 4.7L v8 SR5 AC. Have actually seen one person post a 11/98 in the "First Gen Tundra" FB group but really wish there was more info on knowing how rare mine is. [IMG]

I don’t peddle in the auto industry to know exactly when and how they do things but I work in the Offroad industry and Offroad vehicle manufacturers will build prototypes by hand and use them to create jigs and fixtures to build the assembly lines. Afterwards they will do a pre production run to build a set number of vehicles like 10-30 or so. They do this to check and make sure the production meets QC and then they put those first production models into durability testing. These machines are also put on the demo and promo stuff for the release. They run and test these machines to confirm there are no changes needed prior to full production.

I can only assume if Toyota began assembly line runs in May 1999, in order to get one before that date you’d must have a pre-production model that was built for testing. I might be wrong but that’s the only way you see production dates before actual production in the Offroad side. Also many times these pre-production demos are given to sponsored racers high volume dealers and specialty shops to allow them to start building aftermarket products prior to release to help with the marketing push at release. These pre-production models have vin numbers and are signed over to the respective owner. So if this pre-production tundra was gifted to a high volume dealer, and he decided to sell it later down the line, this could solve the riddle on how it’s out and about.

Shows date of first use as 10/05/1999. May have built some inventory up pre-launch. That's wild.

Thanks! I noticed the carfax states 2/22/99, "Vehicle manufactured and shipped to original dealer". Can this be taken literally, meaning it was likely a showroom model? Or was it likely just manufactured on that date? Hmm...wonder if there's any pictures of this puppy in a dealer I could find..

it’s a possibility that it was gifted to a high volume dealer. A pre-production model held or sent as a gift to a VIP or a dealer or something like that.
