The orange appearance is from wearing through the overlay and into the substrate layer. Looks like other failed 6.2 bearings I've looked at. Many hydration canisters were harmed in the pulling of the motor. If you look more closely in the image, you'll find Waldo.

Another project of ours. 1986 Zuk we're going through. Pretty close to complete. Full Raptor liner dark grey paint, rebuilt front axle seals, all fluids changed, all new LED lighting, New soft top, new seats and steering wheel etc. She's pretty cherry. Only 64k miles on it I believe.

PSA here: This company https://rocky-road.com/ has stuff for 1st Gen Tundras now! In particular, sliders and armor! I've bought things for my 2011 4Runner from them, and they are a great, friendly, knowledgeable company. Carry on...

I agree with this. Sometimes it just hurts you further to make a scene because now they will do everything in their power to not help you. It's unfortunate but pride can hurt you far more than being right.

Wake up early AM. Make sure my better-3/4 is recovering alright. Take kids to school. Grab shower and walk dog then book it to the dealership for new tires. They’re actually pretty f’n quick and the price is right. So happy with my experience and how quick I’m in and out, I tip my advisor.

Hop on the road, got stuff to do. Then jump on the interstate… hit 60, start getting the wiggles. Hit 75, tremors. Like, WITAF? Seriously? Ugh. Took video accelerating from 55-75 with a placard wedged in the dash to share with them what speed it starts and gets worse.

Back at the stealership. Tire technician doesn’t look a day out of high school. Not that age is a qualifier for expertise, but experience and excellence comes with time and practice. Man, I whose grabbed lunch on my way back, I could eat the ass off a dead horse right now.

No bueno. Good thing you didn't tip the tech. I don't let my express techs touch tires.

I don’t know what an express tech is.

I always tip the techs on work if I can see it’s up to snuff. But it rarely happens at stealerships because they go out of their way to make sure customers never talk to technicians.

A dealership couldnt pay me enough to work on new stuff. I piss & moan everytime i have to reset the oilchange interval thing on moms infiniti. Grandpas taco is about out of free oil changes, so i'll probably have to learn how to mess with the toyota computer, too.

Dealership express techs are goombas, at least at my place.......I don't trust them with any of my vehicles anymore and that's with me throwing away my employee discount.

BS email announcement from work. Zero waste? Really?

    Work Recycling Program:
I understand this program is different than the one we have at home. I think everyone understands and is familiar with recycling, but some may equate compost with the trash bucket we have at home. Nothing could be further from the truth. Technically, we don’t have trash at work as we look at our waste as a resource to be managed. This has helped us achieve and maintain zero waste certification.”

Who knows? They technically don't want trash but I don't know if you can recycle packaging materials or not. Most of my garbage is coffee cups/food waste though and anything bigger than a loaf of bread won't fit in the basket. lol

I guess all those used ball point pens goes in recycling.

I wonder how many carbon credits a zero waste cert is worth.

hmm. Not as much as expected.

Zero waste is a joke. Kind of hard to achieve at work unless you make everyone work from home and not be there.

Looks like the newbie tire tech got it the 2nd time. It's about 95% there, at least.

Also looks like I'll never buy tires from Toyota South Atlanta again. Lesson learned. At least their maintenance techs have always been pretty solid.

Stupid part is, I saved the best of the 4 tires to finally add a full-size spare. The old dude at the tire shop half a mile away nailed balance on that one the 1st time and only charged me $15, and it included a non-TPMS valve stem.

Mopar is having a deal. Buy 3 tires get 1 for $1. Sounded great but their tires are so much higher that the actual savings is $127 when compared to Discount Tire. $55 more per tire.

I used Southeast Toyota's tire center to tee up tires and pull the trigger, it even setup the appointment with the dealer for me. https://www.settirecenters.com/

I was able to get 4 tires with 2yr road hazard and lifetime rotation, mounting, balancing (2x), disposal, alignment, and even a full synthetic oil change. Tires with install/tax/fees were just shy of $1,100 and I got them to toss in an alingment and full syn oil change for $130.

Went with Pirelli Scorpion AS3s. I'm pretty happy overall.

Is this a sale? Closest dealership to me from that link is 2 hours away. And they are significantly higher than Discount Tire.

I'll just stick with ole reliable DT. No one can beat their prices and service. 1 mile from my house.

DT is definitely less hassle, and I prefer them. I couldn't pass on the deal though. I priced DT on the exact same, with same features and they were over $1,200 *IF* I placed the order thru Tire Rack for only the tires. If I placed the order straight thru DT's site, and added an alignment, it was teetering into $1,400 range.

You lost me there. What does Tire Rack have to do with DT?

Also, your discount tire does alignments? I didn't realized they offered that.

You can now order tires on TireRack, and setup Discount Tire as the installer. And for me, it was somewhere between 5%-10% cheaper to do things that way than ordering direct thru DT. And yes, the store near Peachtree-Dekalb airport in ATL offers alignment, they let me add that into the cart.

That's the one by the Zaxby's, right? I've used that store a lot for tire installation and they've always done a good job for me. I never had a bad experience.
