Ahh, so she does get floofy.

 

When I take the dogs to the vet I sit on the floor with them, especially Maverick..

Found this guy about 2 months ago while off-roading out in the hills.

He looks sweet, but this dude has become EXTREMELY protective of my wife and me! Too much! Hopefully he grows out of it some.

 

I don't bring my malinois with me in my RCSB Tundra often because I prefer my dogs in crates, but the Tundra is more fun to drive than my other trucks and she fits so well back there!

 

Sorry, dog trainer here so I can't help it. He will not grow out of it. It's called possession. I recommend a balanced trainer to help you manage it. It can be extremely dangerous and if he bites someone, he'll likely get killed because of his breed..

Looks like he is making himself at home!

 

He's a good boy.
He is getting more comfortable in his kennel.

The only issue we have with him is he sometimes won't come to us.
If we let him out back to potty, he doesn't want to come in if it's nice outside.
The one day he got out the front door, it took us a while to get him to come back in..
He runs around like he wants to play..

Besides that, he is doing very well..

 

You and your wife need to establish yourselves as the Alpha dogs in your pack. We had to do that with our terrier to keep him from being overwhelmed by his own anxiety.

I'll have to look into getting some training.
It all started on about day two or three of having him. Some days he's better than others.

 

Oh he's extremely sweet to us, but he won't let anyone get too close to us on most occasions. He's okay out and about, as long as no one gets real close. Occasionally he'll let strangers pet him. It's hit or miss. He's good at the vet's office when they take him out of the room, away from us. He's really good with one of the techs there.

But no way is anyone getting in our house.

With Honey, I think I'm 100% recall with her. Sugar, when she wants to obey me she'll listen.

He does excellent work and has helped us with Riva' listening to my wife..

My kids would laugh when she "Tried" to be stern with her voce BUT the dog is perplexed ..Instantly stops and obeys...

Small hints and change of "Habits" makes dog ownership easier than raising kids..

And then they remind us how Fun they can be ; his new rope toy is protected by him sleeping on it

 

What's the breed of the one on the right? Ours looks a lot like that and can't seem to get a definitive answer from Vet.

 

They are both brother & sister. Full German Shepherd. They are crossed with Czech German shepherd and west German shepherd according to their AKC paperwork.

My girl is not very photogenic.

 

how old is your girl? Zoe the black one, was not photogenic either at first. She got more of the high driver, rather than her laid back sibling Diesel the sable color one, he got more of the laid back show line. Any how she gradually grew in to her body, she looked kinda funny at first, rather un proportionate. Her body was bigger than her face. Currently at 7 months she has gotten more beautiful.

Finally got their cuts

 

Hoping for a speedy recovery. Ours had that done a few years ago.

 

She is 12 yr, I don't have any history of her blood line as she is a reservation rescue, raised/trained in a woman's prison, adopted by a family with 3 golden retrievers, which then split/divorced 6-7 years later, then we acquired her. She used to be very timid and scared of loud bangs/sound, but very leery of other dogs and we are her pack now. Doesn't need much attention but loves her snacks and only weights 44lbs. I thought she is more kelpie, but vet thinks she's got some shepherd in her.

 

All the best through the recovery. Ours just had that done in October.

 

Feel bad for the guy lol, for his first birthday he got his balls chopped. Tried telling him it wasn’t my choice. This was this morning waiting to go inside. Oh and his halo3 collar was delivered today. Wasn’t impressed with the FI collar.

 

Hope she heals quickly!
