@southof37, still interested to see the routing on that red wire if you get a minute to explore and shoot a pic or two.

I will post as soon as I can but those go to the trailer brakes and they do feed into the main grommet under the master cylinder.

Hope there's a timing belt service in there somewhere recently.
If that K&N filter sticker is still relevant make sure and ditch that filter for a regular one when you get the chance.

Truck looks great though. Glad everything panned out for you.

Yep. Got about 30k miles until the next t-belt. And I thought the same thing about the air filter. I just need bigger tires, and the shocks/springs to go with it.

Simple suspension upgrades along with new shoes will look nice. I also really like the high rise topper.

Weird, what are they disappearing to below the red-outlined arrow here? And is the purple arrow a siren for an aftermarket alarm? Fuck I hate alarms.

If you look closely, follow the red "wire" and you see it turns to black, makes a 180 loop, and then turns back to red. I would suspect someone wound the "extra" power wire with tape or loom where they bent it in half, and zip tied the extra to the firewall.

I don't think that's the case. It looks more like they're tying into a breaker they mounted to the firewall to me if anything.

EDIT: Yep, @KNABORES on the same page. Except the thing under the right-hand arrow looks like a siren still to me?

I also think it appears to be this. No matter what though, that engine bay is spotless.

I’ve been sick since Saturday and still working. And once the rain stops, I may actually be able to play with the new truck. Definitely an alarm siren on the far driver’s side firewall which immediately stopped working and will be replaced. The red wires go to a block on the firewall which I’ll show once I have a little time this weekend.

Here's a few pics of the engine bay and @shifty` here's the pics you requested. In the middle of another storm here in 'Diego and it's killing me. I want to get dirty and start turning some wrenches. I managed to put some new wiper blades on and upgrade the headlights with some Silverstar bulbs for a little extra oomph. I want to start baselining it and wouldn't you know it, I'm on call for a week straight again starting Monday, UGH! I've found a couple leaks into the cab, one being the large grommet under the master cylinder that feeds all the wires into the firewall by the parking brake. The grommet is a little funky in the hole so it needs to be straightened out. The other is what I believe to be the screws under the cowling at the bottom of the windshield. The H20 is dripping out of my blower motor, not a bunch, but I won't stand for that! I think a little RTV should rectify or maybe just purchase the new parts from the dealer.IMG_0480.HEIC.jpg IMG_0481.HEIC.jpg IMG_0482.HEIC.jpg IMG_0483.HEIC.jpg IMG_0486.HEIC.jpg IMG_0485.jpg

    Yup, definitely breakers.

My one concern and thing to point out: Did they completely cut out the rubber boot (grommet/whatev) where the harness passes thru the firewall? Or did it just get pulled into the firewall? You may want to look into that, for sake of rodents, elements getting inside, etc. It's also possible the earlier years are different from my '06, which looks like this:

It just looks like it got pulled in a bit. I need to get in there and work it back out.
