Alpine Exhaust

Anyone have info on this second gen cat back? Or real world experience? I searched and came up with nothing.

 

It’s hard to deviate from something proven. With over 100 options there’s no reason to keep searching and take your chances.

Just installed DD 10” system. Other than a little modification to get the one hanger to fit, very easy and sounds great!

 

It looks similar to a TRD exhaust.
Keith from @dirtydeeds (the king of Tundra exhaust systems) has mentioned that duals are really not the best design for Tundra engines.
If you want a great bolt-n improvement in your exhaust system, Dirtydeeds would be the way to go..

I don’t think there is much to gain in performance. Just looking for stainless with a better sound. Not opposed to the TRD stuff but thinks it’s a bit pricey.

 

Last Tundra I owned.....had the TRD dual exhaust and no issues after 13 years and just under 300k miles on the TRD exhaust. No rust, no rot, nothing.... And i bet the exhaust system is still going strong for the guy who bought truck from me a year ago.
Expensive up front, yes.
With that being said from what I read and hear the DD exhaust is awesome and a lot of Tundra owners are very pleased.
My current Tundra I drive has the TRD exhaust again.

Duals are good if done correctly. Proven that with my Spd system.

You may find this helpful below or you may have already seen it- some clips and such.

However, I really couldn't find any reviews that were not posted or sponsored by Alpine. Or much about the company, appears they are pretty new, around since 21 or so?

Year warranty, cost not awful, appears to be their copy of TRD duals so could be worth a try at least.

 

That is a bitchin’ system, for sure. Have you been able to see what actual gains you achieved with the SPD?

Also curious about any actual gains on a N/A truck with that system. My guess is that it really shines for your boosted application, but might just be more sound with my wimpy little power plant. I have nothing to base my assumption on. Just guessing!

 

I noticed 1-1.5 psi less boost and much more midrange and top end. I bet 30+hp easily on my setup. I don’t doubt you’d see gains on yours.

It’s not equal length. And there isn’t an X pipe. LOL

on a truck with stock manifolds, naturally aspirated, it loses low end torque. But it gains 3-10hp and 10-20tq to the rear wheels over stock. Just like any other flow thru style muffler, because the stock muffler is more restrictive than the stock exhaust manifolds are.

Problem is, you can build a correct exhaust and gain 3-10hp and 10-20tq to the rear wheels over stock…. And not lose low end torque.

An x pipe, which isn’t included with this system, would reduce the loss of low end torque. But it would never come close to a proper single exhaust.

supercharged on the other hand, you still lose low end torque, but you gain zero horsepower.

The ONLY time a dual exhaust makes sense on a 5.7 tundra is if you’re naturally aspirated and you’re running long tube headers. If your truck isn’t running long tube headers, and naturally aspirated, running dual exhaust is paying money to lose low end torque for the sake of having a second pipe.

Posting up a system that loses low end torque and drones like crazy and comparing to my system that isn’t symmetrical so you think it’s not good?

You’re talking to a guy whom has personally performed hundreds of individual prototype experiments on tundras. I’ve also personally built tens of thousands of exhaust systems for tundras. And thousands of exhaust systems for other vehicles as well.

My engineering experience is sought after by several OEM automotive corporations.

The non symmetrical design you think makes mine inferior is actually what sets it apart and makes your little high school style comparison just that, stupid.

This post isn’t for you btw. It’s to show others who you are. And to show newby’s how to not screw up their truck. Your mind is already made up.

I've got a shitty JBA cat back exhaust.

My gas mileage hasn't suffered and my truck pulls onto the 80mph interstate just fine.

Ruined nothing.

It's not as cool as a lot members trucks but works for me.

Still, the SPD is hands down sexy in compared to what you are offering.

 

idk but his reply to rey, that first sentence came off super condescending with the big LOL. figured he didn't read the previous replies before he info dumped, based on him saying that it wasn't x piped or equal length, which is true for the alpine kit from the op but not the spd system rey was referring too.

That SPD system is extremely nice looking. In the end it’s under a truck that no one will really ever see. That being said what a beautiful looking system.

 

Any muffler besides stock, built into a dual exhaust or a single exhaust, as long as the pipe used is the same size or bigger than stock, will gain 3-10hp and 10-20tq to the rear wheels over stock.

The problem with going dual exhaust, whether with x pipe or equal length, you lose low end torque unless you run long tube headers. Your stock manifolds want a single outlet tailpipe 2 3/4” diameter.
