I finally got my dual tip black chrome tailpipe. Damn, took forever. How hard did you guys find this swap, getting it over and around the axle and such? In my experience one of the biggest PITAs is getting the old pipe off the rubber donut mounts and the new one back on. I'll use a little silicone spray or sil-glyde.

Can you try and explain how you got the old axel back off the truck? I dropped the spare tire and spent 20 mins trying to get it out, but I kept on hitting something that wouldn't allow me to get it all the way off.
Did it help to put it up on ramps? I didn't jack the truck up or anything.

From his photo above you can see it was on ramps, so he probably didn't try it without them. Hopefully that's all we need to do to make this work.

Jacking the body/bed up by the hitch... that sounds like the pro tip for the win.

Talked to my dealer yesterday about the black chrome. They said it won't be until 4/1 when Toyota starts allocating. He couldn't say if this was making the parts or actually sending them out.

He could get me the chrome in 10-15 days though.

    Both free shipped to store

IDK that the dealers are getting totally accurate info. I Ordered my black chrome back pipe in early January, then about 3 weeks ago I stopped in at the dealer to get another part and asked about the tailpipe, and he said it looked like mid-March. But only a week later I got the e-mail to pick up my pipe. It's in my basement waiting for a good opportunity to install. Be prepared to be shocked at the size of the box these come in!

I do like the black chrome also, just thought maybe do something different. I need to find some sound of someone doing just the resonator delete. See if that's clean like the trd exhaust? Should be, but I'm skeptical

I didn’t like how big the tips were but it’s probably doable. I finally settled with the magnaflow overland with no visible tips or exit

No issue at all. And sounds good! It's not the biggest difference. Mainly for looks.. but changes tone a little bit

You were able to remove/replace on flat ground just by jacking up frame?

Sorry for the delayed response. Putting it up on the ramps only helped me to get under the truck since I’ve got big ruts in the driveway. I blocked the front wheels, dropped the spare, and ended up jacking up on the hitch mount with a 6x6 pressure treated block that was about 14” long. The suspension really needs to be at full droop to get the pipe over the axel without damaging anything, at least in my case. Jacking it up from there got me enough room to weasel it around and it came out in seconds. Not the safest solution but it worked. Originally, I tried boosting the airbags up to the hi setting, but that wasn’t enough.

I went to my Toyota dealership on Monday to order the TRD exhaust tip. They said is back order and I ordered it and the guys said it will take about 2 months. They called me today to pick it up and I got it for $304 he gave me discount. The box for it was so big I just took out and have them keep the box lol. Can’t wait to install it.IMG_0748.jpg IMG_0748.jpg IMG_0748.jpg

Yeah, I couldn't believe the size of the box when I picked mine up. Still waiting for a decent warm day to get out and install it. I didn't see it in your photo, but I will assume you recovered the gasket and bolts from the box before you let them have it.

And I really have to LOL the mods putting this in the "Performance and Tuning" forum. This is really just a cosmetic mod.
