There's a good looking regular cab that popped up for sale in Boise, ID. Low miles and looks clean.
I went and checked out the double cab I had my eye on and it was a hard pass based on visual inspection. Looked really clean from the outside, but started uncovering multiple repairs and dealer wouldn't even talk about lowering price.

After all the searching I can't believe you're leaving us hanging like this. No details, no pics? I'm stoked for you though.

Apparently, the truck has 456s on stock tire size. I hope it doesn't whine too much on the freeway! I guess I'll just have to go up in tire size.

Alright, here she is. I didn't want to post anything until I ACTUALLY had her in my possession. Call me superstitious. It's been a long time coming and I just want to have her in the driveway...in MY driveway.

Best color, best cab type. Congrats, @southof37!

Meanwhile, what is that pair of red wires above the brake booster, and where are they going?

I’m going to find out!! It has a new head unit and it also has a trailer brake controller. The wires look pretty heavy duty for that, but we shall see.

Yeah, and I see they're not going all the way across the firewall, so it must be going into the firewall...

If the new head unit is an Alpine, they may be using the KTA power-pack piggyback amp that mounts to the back of the head unit. I'm just curious how they passed thru the firewall. If there's a better way than going thru the main bulkhead/grommet near the brake MC, I'd love to know. I'll be wiring my amp up in the next week or three.

I’m a bit worried about the gearing, actually. Looks like I may be running about 3500-3800 rpm on the highway at 70-75 mph. I won’t do anything for a while but eventually I’ll get larger tires and some wheels, build out a good platform for my camping and probably do a mild lift to freshen up the suspension for the trails. I don’t plan on excessive modifications. It has Banks exhaust already so I can’t wait to see how it sounds. Hitting the road here in a bit :burnrubber:

I'm usually around 2.2k RPM at 70, so that is pretty weird.

Check facebook you can find pretty good deals with OEM rims. Or my favorite slightly larger is the 255/75/17 jeep takeoffs. Good tires for dirt cheap.

A bit late now, and maybe the AC is different than the dbl cab, but I have a limited with cloth. There's a few of us around I believe...

So, I made it home from Tucson at 0415 this morning, whew! Speedometer reads 80@2400rpm when I'm doing about 70 clocked next to my wife's 'Cruiser on the freeway. I will definitely have to go bigger on tires and see where that gets me. I think 33s will do the trick but I want to do the very least trimming possible. I just realized it has a LSD in back too. My plan eventually is to probably go 17" and get as much height as possible without trimming/cutting, etc. I also see a mild 2" lift with shocks/springs in the future. The Banks exhaust sounds decent, not overly noisy. Overall, I'm extremely happy with my purchase and glad I waited for the right one. @shifty` , those wires are for the trailer brake controller and everything is fused, nice and tidy. I've got a lot of things to get to today but will try to see exactly how he fed the wires through the firewall.
Thank you all for your support/input while I bugged the hell out of you all with waiting for the right one to come along.
    I'm home now!

Congrats on the find. Glad you’re happy with it. Question for you, did you have a shop inspect before buying? I’ve found a potential truck I’m looking at but it’s across country. Trying to decide best way to inspect it.

Actually, this one, I didn't. I know some of you out there are going to think I'm an idiot, and maybe I am, but honestly, I had one very small window on Friday afternoon and it's almost 6 hours drive from my home in San Diego. I went with my gut, plus he had tons of receipts since new. It was very well taken care of and it shows. There isn't a single bit of leakage anywhere and no rust at all.
There was one in WA I was going to have the local Toyota dealer inspect for me a while back, but that fell through when my work schedule got in the way. Where is this truck you're looking at? I stopped looking at trucks from the East Coast just because I know I would be disappointed at the corrosion and rust that most of them will inevitably have. It took me a long time, but it worked out for me as far as I can tell .

Sometimes you take a gamble and it pays off. Hopefully that’s the case for you. the truck I found is in North Carolina. It’s a carfax 1-owner. Spent its life in California and Texas with 90% of maintenance done at Toyota dealership. It’s checking all the boxes except timing belt is due. But I’m not sure if I’d be able to fly to check it out and drive it back. Might have to get it shipped if I can get it inspected.

It sounds good, definitely. I got a quote when I was using the Autotrader app from Florida to San Diego and it was about $2500 to ship iirc.
I just couldn’t do it. I hope you can find something that works for you.

Looking to sell mine and get a double cab. Want to buy a new one first (2005/2006) before selling so I’m not down a car. The recent truck I checked out had too many issues and seller wouldn’t work on price at all.
