Free is always worth the try. It has more power than I anticipated.

I like the pole saw and smaller chain saw idea for yard maintenance. Plus @azTony brought up a good point for portability on trail use issues.

I have an e-go trimmer and I'll never buy a gas one again. So much quicker and easier. I'm tempted by a mower, but I have a large area to mow and just the trimmer I need two batteries to do the edge work. I don't think I want to shell out what it would cost for a mower and all the batteries to be able to mow my property.

Would the trimmer batteries not be interchangeable? For some reason I thought they were.

I only have 1.5 acres and my mower takes 3 battery cycles to mow. 2 batteries on hand so once the first one wears out I charge it while using the second one. Investment wasn't cheap but like you said about the trimmer, I'll never go back.

    Gas for chainsaw, mower, snowblower.

String trimmer is the M18 and its great. Battery for most other tools. My Porter Cable air compressor only gets user for filling tires etc and I may buy a M18 compressor instead. My nailers and impacts are all battery now.

They are interchangeable, but that doesn't change the fact that just for trimmer work I need 2. For mowing I would need like 8. That's way too much money.

They don't charge fast enough to continuously mow/trim. I need them full when I start the job.

IDK how I missed the size you stated. Maybe it would work, but IDK. My yard isn't actually grass. It's hay, and I don't mow it super often sometimes, so it takes some torque and work to cut it down. I hate yard work, so that's on me.

I'm not mowing grass either. More like weeds. My charge cycle is equivalent to my battery use cycle. You may be able to get by with less batteries than you think. That is if you needed to upgrade. I only did because I needed to. So I was buying a mower either way.

Yeah, my current Honda is doing well and is only a few years old. I don't plan to change it any time soon. Just when the time comes. Hell, by then the e-go might be even better.

I have a Ryobi mower and it can do the front (small'ish) and backyard (medium'ish) with a full battery so long as I dont let it grow out of hand. I usually mow 2x a week when in season. However, this spring I am ripping (well, not me!) probably 75% of the backyard and placing a medium grade turf in its place. I hate mowing so much. I will also cap off a few sprinklers, and leave some open to wash the turf as needed. (yes, this one is apparently dog friendly)

Mine is electric, and has done well the last two snowfalls here. Especially since it was only around $100. I would love a great gas one.

This is the way. Anyone landscaping with sod/grass these days clearly has no clue how precious our water resources are.

For the snowfall you get down there electric isn't a bad option. I had one for a few seasons when we lived in a duplex and had a really small driveway and it was fine for that. With my 60 yard long sloped gravel driveway though, I'm happy with my tracked blower.

Not only that, but I am tired of keeping up after it with three dogs. I am constantly, seeing, fertilizing, and new sod down every summer. Gets real old quickly. Also, per my allergist, I am allergic to every tree, plant, grass, and bush in the State of Colorado. So when I am back there, I come back with an itchy throat, watery eyes, and continuous sneezing. The little fly's that live in the grass only add bug bites all over me and then I am itchy to add to it lol.

Nope. Doesnt make me sick or injured. She can care less about my allergies...although, I am seeing an allergist on Friday to test to see if I am still allergic to penicillin. Apparently it is a whole thing to make sure I can still breathe during it. The wife wants to come to that one.
