    Hi,

I was looking a many different lift kit and more specifically at the factory TRD Lift kit for my new 2024 TRD Offroad. On the ICON website this statement catch my attention when looking at the EXP shocks.

APPLICATION NOTE #149: For 4Wd Models Without Trd Off-Road Package ICON Recommends Using ICON Diff Drop (Part# 55156) Or Using Toyota Trd Axles (Part# 434200C020 Driver / 434100C020 Pass). Failure To Do So Could Result In Front Axle Damage. Not Required For Trd Pro.

Should I understand that the TRD OffRoad model already has the TRD Axles? The same that are included in the TRD Lift kit?

    Thanks.

I'm not 100% certain, but about 80% that the TRD axles are not on trucks without the lift. The axles are added to handle the geometry changes that the lift causes. No lift, no axles.

The axle length was not necessarily the primary concern. The issue was the mounting at the differential. The standard black axle utilized a tripod-esque mounting method that can easily deflect, leading to axle failure. The diff drop alleviated enough angle to allow this mounting method to remain safe, or the TRD axles with a more traditional mounting method can be used when partnered with a lift.
