B&M Trans Pan

Was really beefy , but just kind of a heads up if you install this pan mine had little bit of overspray over the check plug so had to clean that out little bit before install but overall pretty sweet setup.

 

Nice! I am thinking about this as well. This pan uses the OE Toyota gasket still correct?

 

Are you monitoring the pan oil temps? Have before and after temps?

 

yeah so the pan overall holds heat very well. So the best way I can explain it, the heat will rise and basically go right back down to that 190-200 almost immediately. I have rear gearing done and a strong tune as well so the heat is still there without the cooler installed but since the capacity is so much higher I’ve noticed it does drop back down very very quickly. 10-15 degree drop maybe overall, but in terms of cooling I would say the pans more effective at taking the heat away much quicker then the stock pan 100%. If that makes sense?

Would this pan prevent the use of the RCI trans skid plate?

 

no I don’t think so it’s still tucked in under the frame. If that skid plate sits flush you should be good. Flush as in like as long as the inside of the skid plate doesn’t protrude upwards.

 

How much does this increase the fluid capacity?

I think in general the cooler might be a better upgrade if your really doing some serious payload/towing or overland type trucking 100% and I still might do it later on. However, if you’re just doing some basic off roading and not really staying in it like all the time the pan feels like the way to go. Just from my observations, I could give some more data in a few days with HP Tuners, I do have some scan logs from
Before of the temps hitting 239 without the pan.

 

what are you using to measure the temp?

 

500.00+ for a tranny pan? Damn, that’s almost the diy cost for adding a cooler.

I actually have the genie transmission cooler kit just never installed it. Wanted to see how the pan was overall and I was pretty shocked at the results. To be honest I bought it for that sweet logo that no one can see

 

I get that. I wish our trucks had a rear diff cover that was removable. Solely so I could have a cool ARB one like other trucks do lol.

Yeah I was actually looking for a cover for awhile but then found out the tundras rear differential is actually sealed from the outside!

Make a custom adapter to go over it so you can make it happen. You might even be able to sell a few if you come up with a decent design. People buy all kinds of auto accessories just cuz they look cool.

Looks like you can even pay to put in a sensor hole.

 

that pans not OEM. Doesn’t retain the stock gasket. Even though I am sure it’s just as good as the B&M pan.

 

The B&M pan is a good part. Not knocking it. My post was in reference to the cost as the PML plain finish pan is a little cheaper. I think the higher capacity pans are a great upgrade.

 

all good yeah, it’s very difficult to measure the major differences between both pans because they both seem to be made out of the same material, same capacity size I just didn’t like you had to use the gasket they provided. As far as the fins inside the pan, that could potentially yield better results but for them to say our pan doesn’t slosh around is pretty ridiculous.
