The entryway seemed kind of naked after adding wainscoting to the dining room. It was decided that I should put it in the entry way also. Then up the stairs, onto the catwalk, etc.

Need some ideas and /or advice on handrail. This passed the final inspection, but something seems missing on the stairs. IMG_3653.jpg IMG_3652.jpg

I can't do a bottom rail with vertical posts due to how the stairs are. My thoughts:

    - I can weld up a large letter initial of our last name, and then bolt it inside to take up space.

    - Another option is to not do a bottom rail but weld vertical drop downs to take up space.

Yes, that is a fire in the background. Watching closely...

Vertical drop downs to match the rest of the railing would look nice, I think.

    Thanks my friend!

Next up is getting the yard looking nice and then I'm going to add it (wainscot, not the yard) to the front living room.

well it's not wains coat around the dining room nor is it a "home" improvement.

Knocked out this little 2X4 work bench in the shop.

Now I have to figure out where the press and the grinder will go. Doesn't leave much room for tinkering. Might end up building a smaller bench for the grinder itself, I don't like this stand, the foot print is too big.

Holy smokes that ties in beautifully!
That's what I want to do in my dining room, nicely done.

I've been working in the breezeway the past couple of weekends, tore down the ceiling and opened it up,putting on shiplap and to hide the hip transition of shakes to shiplap going to make a shelf and put a row of LED'S for some indirect lighting.

    Thanks man!
While I was working on the breezeway the Mrs was transplanting flower bulbs and picking up sticks from the winter, but the most important job of the day was the smoker cooking up 2 whole racks of ribs....
Working with the Mrs. banging up some wood and the weather was ideal, man that was a good day for sure!

Ribs, oh yeah:thumbsup:. Yeah that sunset hits that spot nice too.
Do you tarp it or have doors to keep the snow out/for winter? (maybe not in your state, Michigan here)
I've done two complete homes in shakes, such a pain in the ass, but it looks so nice, and old school.

No I have never put tarps on but at times I wish I had,we live on a peninsula called Cape Cod and known for winter "Nor Eastas" lol, as we refer to it.
The winds can be relentless plus with snow it just sucks.
We definitely do not get snow like you or have the lake effect you guys get, but we get snow non the less.
There has been times where I've had to go to the neighbors yards and pick up the chair & couch cushions,so last fall I smartend up and probably made my best purchase on Amazon for a spring loaded retractable privacy screen, man it worked great thus past winter, it cut the wind, rain and almost 90% of the snow.

Nice solution, sunshade as well when you've had enough. Putting that idea in the memory bank.

A little quick temporary pen for the two new chicks, until they get feathered out... or it stops being winter here (snowed yesterday)
Panelized so we can break it down and store it until we need it again.
Wife hooks them up with "enrichment" toys  Technically a home project, just not my home.o_O Sapphire Sky breed, wife says they are a "new" breed.

That's something I want to get into, being self sufficient is the way to go!
Chickens and veggies I can do, I want to go halves on a cow and a pig,I'm tired of all this crap they are feeding the animals we ingest and for outrageous money.
Getting pretty sick of all this BS.
There is a lot that I want/will do,but I know I cannot give it full attention and focus and it would be a waste of funds and most of all time...
Once I get the our Home where I want it then I will get into it for sure

I made the mistake of taking my wife to Cal Ranch a week ago when they had the sale on chicks. "They're so cute!!".

My response was Yes, and our cats would love them, and if they live past the cats and grow, the coyotes will be attracted and love them, and the cats.
