Been a bit sparse in CO as well. Quite unfortunate. Damn climate change.

Anyway, I'm thinking about getting some fast entry bindings for next season. I've tried Flow in the past, and it's a hard pass, so no Flow. I'm getting too old and starting to struggle with traditional straps.

Considering the Nidecker Supermatics. Perhaps the Clew? I don't like the idea of some binding being stuck to my boot though.

OR, take the traditional route and actually work on my fitness and flexibility and use the struggle as motivation to better my health. I don't like this idea. I'm more of a modernist and look for new ways to make my life easier.

I saw them in your pic and was going to ask your thoughts. I think that makes sense though, the SO eliminate any play from the boot and straps.

Glad you are happy with your setup!

Next we’ll have to talk KTM’s, haha. 350 SX-F and 250XC guy here.

Tried snowboarding for the first time this weekend and I’m hooked.
I tried to ski a couple years back and I was not a fan at all. Couldn’t get my legs to work together, so having them both strapped into the board worked well.

I’m excited to keep going and get better!

Low odds, but were you in Colorado by any chance? I met a couple of Texans and a Louisianan at Winter Park on some chair lifts.

I have still yet to ride in NM... Really want to do the Enchanted Circle spots.

    Were you at Apache?

The Step Ons are the way to go. I've had mine for four or five years and I would never go back to traditional bindings. After a while, your foot knows where to go and you're in and gone before everyone sits down to ratchet in.

@sbxx312 @MistrRoboto how is the "Clean out" of the step-ins? I've had my eye on that system for a while but we get big dumps of snow at a time (typically, this season has really been a bust) and I've heard they're a bit of a bear to keep clean and easy to get buildup around the locking mechanisms.

I think I'd probably keep a traditional binding boot setup for deep powder/ trees surfer, and then go with some step-ons on my free-ride/ "resort" setup

We've had some nice powder days this year, including one of the best days in a long time over MLK weekend. I've never had any issues. I remember the original K2 Clickers had a problem with snow packing in the front engagement, but I've never experienced anything like that. I get off the lift and give my binding a swipe with my glove, clear the snow off my boot with my stomp pad, and go.

Snow can sometimes get packed in there where it is a little harder to get out at the bottom, but a firm SPD/Speedplay bike pedal twist and you're out.

Brought all the equipment down for a mid season tune after a really lousy early season and a lot of rocks. Headed back to Frisco on Friday.

There is no reason to sit to do up bindings, takes a bit of practice but your dry bum will thank you.

Can’t remember the last time I sat to strap in. Gets a little dicey after a few cans of carve juice in the lodge but I usually can titrate pretty well.

I have not had that issue, but as you can see... I am not riding in "big dumps of snow". The stuff I've been in can easily be brushed away with the glove if it gets in the way. And its no more of an annoyance than clearing a strapped binding.

So jealous. Our season is pretty much toast locally. Have to travel 4-5 hrs to VT/Canada for the goods going forward.

Anyone here interested in a WestSlope Gear Pro-180X chest pack?
I picked one up because the concept was interesting to me. Used it once and I discovered I just prefer a good ol' backpack.
Maybe if I had step-in bindings, or wasn't already short, old, and fat and that makes it difficult to bend over and ratchet my bindings.

I'll get it posted up in the marketplace, but thought I'd at least toss it out here to this group if anyone was looking.

I started snowboarding around 93. I was immediately hooked and haven't really stopped since. I was living at Camp Pendleton when I started and after I finished college in San Diego, I moved back home to Colorado we're I grew up. I landed in vail and was riding 80-90 days a year for over almost a decade before I slowed down in my 40's. These days I'm still getting around 30 days a year.

Current on mtn board set up is 161 Burton Custom Flying V deck and Burton Cartel EST bindings. I also frequent turns on my 162 Burton Family Tree split board for backcountry days with Spark R&D bindings. I have a few old boards laying around that I don't ride much any more but on real deep days I will break out my 165 Lib Tech Mullet and Burton Custom bindings.

One of these days I'm going to break out all my old boards and build some sweet deck chairs though.

And because everyone loves pictures, here are a few backcountry trips from over the years.
