    Hi Y'all,

Have had this issue for a while and posted it before... So I've been having a chatter/rattly noise in my passenger window that I just can't get rid of.

I've stuffed felt, foam stickers, silicone grease into the window weatherstripping seals to no avail. I've even been to the service center at the dealer I purchased the truck from (400+ miles round-trip) 3 times because no service center in Louisiana would touch it. The dealership replaced the window seals which initially helped but ultimately the noise came back.

I did some investigating and I found if I pressed hard against the window from the inside around the top corner the noise is gone. I tried stuffing felt into the channel where the window seals up against the weatherstripping but it didn't really help all too much.

I'm at wits end spending over 70k on a truck that is louder than my 2015 Toyota Camry. What do y'all recommend I do?

Trd Jon on YouTube has same issue with his 2023 platinum... He has some sort of foam pieces sticking out from his passenger window to help out with this a bit. His previous limited also had similar issue unfortunately. No fix so far

This sounds like a similar issue I had with my 2022 1794, except mine was on the driver's side. In my case, the noise was friction between the weatherstripping on the door and on the cab door frame that made a sound while driving. I followed a suggestion from someone else on this forum and simply applied a light dusting of corn starch to both pieces of weatherstripping where they were making contact and I was hearing the noise from. That solved my problem; I hope it helps solve yours.

I’ll give that a try and report back. Thanks for taking the time to share your solution!
Update: it didn’t work for me unfortunately.

Thanks for the corn starch tip I will give it a try maybe the dealers should read this as they have no clue.

I’ve had the dealer take a look twice, both times they sprayed an anti-shaking spray to inside of the door handle - this is how I understand it but could be wrong on the explanation. It’s only my front passenger window as well. When you push on the window it stops - my thoughts were a strip of foam but it sounds like the doesn’t work.

Can’t push on it if I’m driving alone :(
Now my large rear window on the passenger side is rattling like mad.

I have a rattle i believe is in the sunroof on my 22TRD pro. Does not rattle with sunroof fully retracted. Low speeds I hear it more especially if the truck rolls side to side when I hit a bump. Dealer no help.
    Ideas?

@22TRDPROSOLAROCTANE - funny you should mention the sunroof rattle as I am in the process of chasing down what I believe to be this very rattle myself right now. 2022 1794. Similar symptoms: rattle sound that sometimes like it is coming from the front, rear, or even under the truck as I go over bumps, truck moves side-to-side, etc. Does not appear to happen with sunroof retracted.

Also shows up inconsistently. Maybe affected by temperature?

    My current theory:

The bar (with the fabric) at the front of the sunroof enclosure is spring-driven. This bar collapses and is pushed down when the sunroof is closed. Bumps and cab motion sometimes make the bar knock/tap/whatever up against the underside of the sunroof, which produces the rattling/knocking sound. When the sunroof is open, this bar is allowed to rise, so there's nothing to knock against.

This bar is the only freely moving part that I have been able to find in the sunroof enclosure without taking the whole thing apart. Another possible culprit is part of the motor or mechanism that handles the retraction, which I imagine is housed in the rear by the cabin light.

I was actually just outside trying to put some padded weather stripping over the bar to leave in place as a test. This would not be a permanent solution because the padding would just blow off once the sunroof is open.

To see what I am referring to, pull the sunroof back 1-2 inches, then look at the sunroof from above outside of the truck. You should be able to push the bar down some, then let go to produce a tapping sound.

Will keep troubleshooting and report back if I find a fix.

Question: are you able to consistently reproduce this issue?

dealing with the same issue for months. Trust me it’s not the bar. Already tried messing with it. I believe it’s the sunroof itself maybe the arms to the glass are moving around freely. If I close the shade it doesn’t rattle so that tells me something is almost loose. Every dealer I go to is not helpful as all of them open this tas case and don’t want to touch the truck. Then I never hear back from them so it’s a complete waste of time.If I push up on the back part of the glass while driving with something the noise is gone. It is definitely temperature related as the warmer temperature is better where as colder temperatures are worse

Good info @jeff1119 , thanks for sharing. I just stuck some felt furniture pads up above where the bar rests when sunroof is closed in order to test my theory. Will try pushing up against the back of the sunroof.

If it doesn't happen when the shade is closed, doesn't that point to it being something in the shade or shade assembly, like the retraction mechanism? I have not really tested mine yet with the shade closed.

not 100% sure but I don’t believe it’s the shade. Because with the shade open, if I stick something between the sunroof and rail it doesn’t rattle so it leads me to believe it’s the sunroof itself. I’m just at the point now where I’m getting tired of chasing this noise trying to find it, thinking I might of fixed it, only for it to return again. Like I mentioned no dealer wants to touch it so it’s almost like I’m stuck living with it. It’s not the end of the world but it is kind of annoying hearing it make a ticking rattling noise over every bump. If I open the sunroof in vent mode I can still hear it though very faint and also fully open I can hear it but again very faint so it must be the sunroof glass arms

Guess I'll troubleshoot the arms next. Not the end of the world, no, but definitely annoying. This is the last big thing to chase down for me. May drive me crazy if I don't find it.

please keep me posted as I myself am dealing with this as the last annoyance. If I figure something out I’ll keep you posted as well. I was dealing with a very annoying creeking noise for a while over any bumps in the road but turned out it was the rear passenger seat. Some WD-40 silicone lube solved that issue.

Will do, and appreciate the offer for the same. I have not had that creak, but so far I've had the chattering window/door issue in this thread (solved both with light dusting of corn starch), potential hydraulic cab mount noise over bumps, some rattle in the glove box (the little mount thing + the air filter cover), and then this sunroof noise.

I love the truck overall and knew there'd be some hiccups with the '22, redesign and all. Unfortunately, I also obsess over stuff like this and have to fix these things...

Looks like you fixed a lot of annoyances. I’m the same way but this sunroof one really difficult to diagnose

@jeff1119 you were right, my "fix" for the bar did not work. Gotta be something else. I saw in another forum where you were able to remove the roof liner. Was this easy? Are you aware of any YouTube videos for instruction?

Do you hear this noise when the windows are closed? I have a noise that I can hear when the passenger side windows are down, but I can’t hear it inside when the windows are closed.

I have the exact same issue with my 2022 Tundra Platinum. Passenger window rattles when going over bumps. Press on the window and the rattle goes away. Been to the dealer 4 times so far with no solution! The dealer actually changed the window regulator but with no success. Might be a bit worse now.

so what has worked for me now is just put some extra weather stripping in the existing door weatherstripping… that rattle is now gone for me, the dealership swapped out the weatherstripping before and it didn’t help at all.

It’s a thunderstorm for me today unfortunately. I’ll post pictures tomorrow morning. I just stuffed it in between the channel of existing weather stripping. I think the dimensions were something along the lines of .39in x .39in d shaped weather stripping (~3/8in)

Haven’t heard or seen the video, can you share that with me? But all credit to him if he discovered it first.

I went down as far as the glass went.
