Has anyone upgraded to towing mirrors on their 2nd gen.? I was wondering if I can use the towing mirrors from a new model? Thoughts?

Went with Boost Auto, GM style tow mirrors. They are awesome.

Doubled the number of turn indicators. Large, heated convex mirrors. Reverse spotlights and option for power folding as well.

I've seen other 2nd gens with toyota towing mirrors, could it be it was an optional part?

OEM mirrors should be the same from 2007 to 2021, just not the SR for some reason...

Not sure if it includes the mirror glass or not, although it says complete assembly..

I seen what you are talking about... How was the install?

They build a custom wire harness for your truck so they are plug-n-play.... Except for the reverse spotlights. Would take like 30mins total if not wiring reverse lights or power fold.

I wired the spotlights to the cargo light circuit so I can turn them on/off at will.

Other functions (heat, adjust, and signals) are all covered by the custom harness.

Sure are nice for visibility whether towing or not. Only pulled a small utility trailer with them so far, but the reverse spots were crucial for backing after nightfall. I think the extending function will be quite helpful for our travel trailer. Visibility has NOT been ideal with the factory non-tow mirrors.

I've actually found that these mirrors somewhat correct the gigantic factory blind spot from the passenger mirror/a-pillar combo. The small opening between the top and bottom arms give one a MUCH better chance of noticing anything hiding there.

If you get the lights and the power folding, the install is a PITA because you have to run two separate sets of wires in different directions through the channels in the door hinges. They definitely could have combined the wiring.

Overall I really like my Boost Auto mirrors. No wind noise. I love being able to fold them in my garage, though I wish it were automatic. I wrapped mine color match.

BUT they do give you blind spots left and right when you're pulling into traffic... A couple of times I've lost sight of a car behind the huge mirror. You get used to it though.

Thank you for your insight. It definitely looks clean on your truck.

Interesting you mention this. Maybe it's a difference in seating position, but I noticed an IMPROVEMENT in visibility in these situations. The little window created by this mirror design allows one to see what previously one could not.

I'm sure I still do the peek-around at certain intersections, but the admittedly tiny improvement is still much appreciated.
