I’m not gonna lie that 3.0 duramax has my attention. I’m not ready to give up the 2015 tundra yet but when I do I will definitely consider the 3.0. My buddy has one and is getting 13 mpg pulling his 24 ft camper. My truck gets 13 empty ha ha. But at the end of the day these modern day emissions systems make me a bit nervous. I’m not overly impressed with the new tundra either. But I also haven’t driven one. Maybe if I do my mind may change.

You pulled the trigger on the 3.0 duramax?

I did…The picture in the previous post is my last pic of my Tundra. :(

On my way home from the dealership, my fuel economy was 25.3. 45 minute drive with interstate and local streets.

Congrats, I just hit 8,800 miles on mine. I a have averaged right at 25.5 over the life of mine. We have also taken it from Knoxville to Atlanta, Knoxville to Lexington, Ky, and Knoxville to Orlando, FL all round trips. If you cruise at about 65-70 max in the right hand lane you can get 28.5 to 31 MPG depending on wind, etc.... Takes some foot discipline though....

I have used about 5-6 gallons of DEF over the 8,800 miles.

    Pulling a 3,500 to 5,000 trailer I am in theb15-17 range.

So far I love my little Duramax!

Dang. That’s freaking tempting considering I just got 11.8 on my way home doing 75.

I have been averaging 25 mpg in mostly city driving. I do miss my Tundra. Tundra looks better and is much faster off the line. But damn, the GMC is smooth and much more comfortable than my Tundra. I really wish Toyota would have made real improvements to the 3rd gen Tundra.

I sort of feel the same way. I absolutely love my 1500 Duramax. It does not quite have that initial hit that the Tundra or if you drive a 6.2 GM truck has. However, I feel it pulls really hard in the mid-range. If I am doing 55 and want to pass, just a half press of the pedal and I am at 70 very quickly. I have not noticed any turbo lag at all with this truck.

I will agree that my 2019 Platinum had the best cab and space of any truck I have owned. We as a family do miss that. The GMC for sure feels bigger and more spacious than a 3rd Gen Tundra, but my 2019 Platinum is still our favorite.

I have 11,800 on my Duramax and have had zero issues. I too have averaged 25 over the life of having the truck in mixed driving. We as a family take it on long road trips with the kids and I routinely get 28-31 MPG on the highway between 65-73 MPH.

Maybe not the truck, but so far the 3.0 Duramax and the 10-speed is by far the best powertrain I have had in a half ton truck. I would without a doubt buy another one in a heartbeat if I was in the market again tomorrow.

I know the Rancho shocks on the X31 package are of low quality and pretty cheap, but I will also agree that the ride on this truck is the best I have ever felt in a truck......
