Who amongst us hasn't been in this exact same situation?

 

Ordered Fat Burger for dinner tonight. It was really good. It was also $55 but my wife and I both ordered combos, which we don't usually do, because she wanted to try both the regular fries and the curly fries. A&W is usually $37 without coupons and $30 with. We also got an extra order of curly fries because they accidentally gave my wife a beef burger instead of a veggie one. I usually don't worry about mistakes like that but she can't eat meat. So I had to drive back and get the right burger so they threw an extra order of fries in, which was nice. No pictures as I scarfed my burger when I got back the second time.

 

That's mostly what I drink.

 

We both usually give each other a smirk, no point in pretending there's not other attractive people in the world.

Jeez, I did our taxes today and we(she) owe(s) $6K.
I had 18% taken out for Federal income tax, she had 10%, so she pays the shortage..

 

She gets pissed EVERY year at tax time.
I tell her she needs to change her W4 but she won't do it.
She says she needs the money during the year.

That's fine, but don't bitch when you have to pay..

Another thing, she made more than I did last year.
We are in a higher tax bracket now.

But about $1K of that is mine, I had a month of disability pay that they didn't take taxes out of, so I'll pay my $1K.

 

What's everyone sippin' on tomorrow; at least those of us that are not exempt from consumption by choice, religion, spouse, or court order???

I'll probably do a black n tan w/dinner, and the wife usually will have 1 or 2 Magner's Ciders with hers... then once we get around to sitting down for some TV show binging (or who knows maybe we'll do a 'game night') it'll be on to sharing one of the best spirits Ireland (the world) has to offer...


Still enjoying the hell out of this awesome gift I received from my Secret Santa during this year's event... and tomorrow evening will be another perfect excuse to enjoy some of this generous and thoughtful gift

Same. My wife will actually silently clap her hands a few times when someone smoking goes by. She knows she can look at all the six pack stomachs she wants… but can only touch my half-rack belly.

 

I go into rage if I owe even a few bucks. Mainly because the system is too complicated when it could be very easy. So I try to set up my rate to get about $1k back. That gives me a nice buffer against swings in income/tax brackets.

Still haven’t been able to figure out the system since the changes implemented by the last Prez. Seems simpler, but my refund is huge if I do what the IRS calculator says. Every year have have to make adjustments…

Mine is pretty consistent with 2 kids, single income and claiming two. I usually get back $5-6k

 

The 'new' form is completely stupid; but you are correct, w/the new standard 'deduction' being over $27k it eliminates the need for sch A for most folks as that's a lot of interest and other 'write-offs' to surpass in order for the need for a sch A to kick in....

Oregon state tax form (the payroll one that needs to be filled out) is ridiculously stupid and over-complex for a state that has a 'flat' 8% tax rate...

 

I don't like getting money back because if I do that means I gave the government an interest free loan and no F'ing way would I get an interest free loan from them. I have no problem paying, it is all the same in the end except you never lent money to someone to hold for you. I told my kids to send me their money interest free and I will give it back to them at the end of the year. They don't get it, they 'need' the money during the year. Once they set it up right they will understand

 

I hate taxes. I have to save up money and pay a bunch in April because of being "self-employed" in a partnership and paying estimated quarterlies. It is always ugly. I hate taxes.

 

My daughter is learning all about the self employment taxes with her photography business this year (first full year of filing federal taxes)…

 

That's too bad. It's never easy, but for his safety and others', may be time to start training to a muzzle for those closer interactions.

Much like the breed itself, muzzles have a bad wrap when they shouldn't. They're a tool, similar to a crate or an e-collar or whatever other methods an owner chooses to employ. Setting them up for success is what it's all about.

 

The one thing you learn about business is that expenses are real. Tell her to be careful with photography. It is a "special" business that the IRS dislikes for losses - in order to dissuade hobby photographers from claiming it as a business. You must make money every few years or the IRS will not permit it as a business.
