What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

I just want to say that I've had my truck for 3 1/2 months now, have put about 3000 miles on it, and I absolutely LOVE it! Very thankful the P.O. took very good care of it, and I intend on doing the same. For a very long time. Thanks to all of you for all the time and effort you've put into this forum. It's invaluable.

 

I'm more interested in the viceo content thank picking apart the person. Y'all some hyperanalytical mofos. I think if some folks put all that effort, thought, and energy into something productive the world would be a f'n incredible place

 

Getting back on track.

I blacked out the crome mirror covers last week. I couldn't stand the Crome any longer. Easy enough to pop them off (gentle on the clips) and hit them with a little rattle can bed liner for that rough/matching plastic look. Just a temporary fix as the passenger mirror has the wobbles and the p/o must have stripped the torx screws trying to remedy. Im thinking I'll color match the replacements with the body when I do the respray.

 

But do you have any pics of Dale on top of the topper?

I never seem to catch it when it hits the zeroes so I started taking pics on 9s. This is when I was leaving work at 1:30 last night after like 17hours or some crap.lots of 9s on that 6.

 

It would seem that I ordered the wrong WP. The new one has a nipple on it that the old one doesn’t. Must be for a trans cooler or something. Another new one ordered this morning.

Curious: How'd you make the circular cuts on those standoffs?

 

There is some math involved to figure out the profile. They are cut with a torch and cleaned up with a cone rock.

Replacing all my seals on my camper shell today hoping it helps with the leaks. I'll do the window seals once ARE ships them.

For the front I'm using the thickest rubber pipe insulation I can find. This is only required because my shell was made for a double cab and there is a big gap there without it. I'm considering throwing the old one on top of this to see if it helps.





The old double-bulb on the sides looks terrible. I'm guessing that's why it's leaking so bad.



This was extremely sketchy but @Mr.bee is a genius. Having trouble getting the passenger side to stay upright. May wait for the wife and hold it while she replaces the seal.
Edit- scratch that. I hacked a few inches off my cross and got it done.

 

Damn, seeing people weld cool shit makes me wish i could weld and had a welder.

 

I used clamps to hold the other side down & keep it from sliding. And might've been a bit more sturdy because my top is curved, so the top board was sprung. The only place i get a tiny bit of a leak is where the back glass meets the tailgate. Not really water, but the TG end is cooler than the cab end on very cold nights. Gonna have to do something different when i find an external ladder rack that'll fit.

I was eyeballing a few different machines for a while but never pulled the trigger on one. Unfortunately I don't have a good place to store/use a welder at the moment.

 

When I wanted to do some basic welding, but lived in a condo where it was a no-go, I took welding night class at the local community college. Got it done.

 

Damn I didn't realize the gap was so big. Can you fit your head in there?

Nah. It's about the width of a hand.

 

The gap is not visible. It's where the front bed rail and topper meet. This solution with the pipe insulation works pretty well.

Oooh I might need one of these to not only kick start my desire to learn to weld, but to fix my cracked seat rail.

 

Did an oil change, coolant flush and changed out the o-rings on the oil cooler.

after I was done my radio kept restarting and then finally shut off while I was driving. My power locks also fob stopped working. I checked the radio fuses - Rad#2 (inside the cab) and Rad#3 under the hood. Both were good. But Rad#1 fuse was just missing. I put a fuse in it and everything worked like normal. Is this normal? Iv had the truck for 10+ years and everything worked till today. Is this missing from factory or did it fly away
