Rented a Bronco for the week, first time I have ever driven one. Have to say, I was way more impressed than I thought I would be. They beat the brakes off of Jeeps. Better interior space, better driving mannerisms, and way better acceleration. Took this one to the Mauna Kea Summit yesterday. Found some off-road trails and ended up unintentionally going through some gnarly shit.

Every day you drift further from Toyota and closer to Ford. Your bros are worried about you. An intervention might be in order soon.

Haha! I'm a car guy, all of it's fun to me. Interested to compare the new Land Cruiser once they become more available. Hard to wrap my head around the price of admission though. Had somebody offer me a LC allocation at MSRP and it was still around $70k!I think new Jeeps and Bronco's are easily 50k! Personally, I would go a 3rd gen 4runner and save a bundle. Jeeps, Bronco's, and etc. are more toys to me than anything. Best gen is the true Swiss army knife.

Oh totally. I had one case when I was in my 20s when I almost fell asleep at the wheel. Worked two doubles with about 6 hours in between, then put in 20 hours. Had to drive 25 minutes back to the hotel, dozed off on the interstate, rude awakening when I hit the rumble strip and started eating grass. Pulled back up to the shoulder for 20min to power nap. Then made the rest of the way. Grandmother had just died, went back to the hotel, slept for 4 hours (was already 4:30am), and went to her wake.

That was a pretty fucked up time in my life.

But hey ... I can probably get 6-7 hours tonight, then I'm rolling in for my last day. Lots of moving shit out tomorrow.

That’s because all the bad shit in your body that’s always moving around starts to settle and kill you when there’s no physical activity to keep it moving.

Agreed! I've had coworkers retire and be dead 6 weeks later.

Now my wife wants to retire when she hits 50 years old. That's a good ways off though. Wonder how that will go (she has a pension through her job, is social security exempt, and is eligible for a full retirement (80% of pay and health insurance is paid for too) at age 50).

Considering your new healthy diet, you may be okay. It really depends upon the number of years you’ve been building up the bad stuff in your body beforehand.

One of those lesbians is trans. Cause the last dude jeep rolled off the line in '06.

on another note, i've been retired for 7 years, and havent given up. But i also regularly ride a sportbike & have a space to hyperfocus my attention on that keeps the muscles & heart moving. The beer has pickled some flavor into me, but i dont diet or take medication just doing things by hand, walking the dog, shuffling rocks. But i dont have tv. I've got xbox, but not xbox live. So when i'm awake i dont idle much.

    IMG_6573.jpg

Today i picked up a trash atv with drum front brakes. In a couple days i'm gonna go pick up a set of oem steelies to paint. Atv is probably gonna become golf cart parts.

All true. Gotta stay active physically and mentally; have regular social interactions that make you feel "part of"; and purpose. Nutrition and alcohol/drug consumption also factour in. And we can't fix genetics.

Dang, 80% at 50 years old is cool. But HEALTHCARE TOO?!! That is gold!

Yep. I actually work for the same organization doing IT work in their main office, same retirement plan. Don't know I'll stick it out until retirement though, but if I do then I'll probably just go work somewhere else and bank some major money, or I'll look more for work that I'd actually enjoy doing. I have some internationally recognized martial arts training credentials, thought about teaching that in retirement.

My retirement plan is to move back to the east coast (Oak Island, NC to be more specific), purchase a small 50ft trawler yacht and do 3hr eco tours around the island, fishing charters, over nights and weddings.
