What Running boards/nerf bars/sliders are you using?

I've looked at those and like the simplicity of the design. Do they mount to the body or to the frame? Also, what do you think about the 5" width vs the other options? It seems to me that 6" would be too wide... but was wondering if 4" would be too narrow.

I went with the 4" iBoards. I like them much more than the Nerf bars I had on before them. The hangers hang a bit lower than what I'd consider perfect and I wish there was a third hanger.

I usually cant remember what day of the week it is so I don't know how I remember that someone mentioned they were looking for bars/boards that fit the RCLB. In perusing my local CL for all kinds of stuff I don't need I found these. No affiliation, might be worth a try to get him to ship.

My fault, man, just now seeing this. They bolt to the frame, they’re supposed to use three brackets, but I used two bc I wanted less “bulk”. I’m 6’0, 230 and haven’t had an issue. My kids and wife use them daily.

4” is too narrow IMO and it leaves a gap between the body so you can really see them. 6” is too wide, those look better on newer diesels. 5” was just right for me, they hide really well and are tucked just close enough to the body and provide a ton of surface to climb in and on.

Really, really happy with this purchase.

Interestingly, a few posts up @Baller says he got the 4" iBoards for his AC and he only got two brackets, and wishes he had 3. Must be the difference between DC and AC?

 

Anyone just rocking 4 individual side steps on a DC?

 

I've got the N-fab hoop steps with the step back by the bed. I couldn't find a set I liked the look of at the time of purchase that were less price. They aren't cheap but I'm on my 2nd set for various finish failing reasons so they've stood behind the warranty. I do like that first picture. My preference was more of that podium/bigger step pad but there aren't that many options in my search.
Mount to factory body bolts for steps.

 

I ordered the 5" iboards from Realtruck.com and got them a couple days ago. I have to send them back because the driver side rear bracket would not fit on my frame. The weird thing is that the website said they mount to the rocker panels with 3 brackets each side. Mine only came with 2 for each side. The instructions also called for me to drill a hole in my frame for the rear bracket.

Bulldog_tundra, do you know what your part number was for your iBoards? Mine was APS-IB20EJA2B for a 2006 double cab.

Do these just work with two mounting points without issue? Do they have some bracket or special hardware needed? And where on the truck do they mount?

Nothing I can do with that clearcoated metallic stuff! Single stage I can crush all day. I've had plenty of cars with single stage.

 

Not a real fan of nerf bars. Mine came with them. Took them off and put on 4” iboards. Much more to my liking. Maybe wish there was a third mounting point. They flex a little when you stand on them. With that being said, I’ve never had a problem with them. I like the 4”. I think 5” would be too much for me.

So did anyone ever mount a set of these on a 1st gen? I've seen a lot of discussion but didn't see where anyone actually installed them. I purchased a set but really don't like the idea of drilling holes in the truck.

 

I'm assuming those iboards are the APS brand? If anyone can confirm. That'd be a great help

 

I had the stock yoto sidesteps for about a year. Great for ease of access and cleaning windshield. I dont " offroad" my truck but I use it and sometimes i have to go mudding to get to project ( work in energy/,fuel processing)

Anyway those nice oem ones broke after a year of doing truck things, so i got a pair of weld on "nerfs or sliders" ...i agree, a naked truck looks best...and they add over 100Lbs. But , the aid access into cab/bed, protect the body if you high side one of these long dongs, and you can jack the truck up easier. They stick out the same as my wheels. I would not recomend for street trucks, but when I can..l to do a little light off roading without worry of damaging a relatively clean body. There are two companies that make nurfs for your RCLB , i think he has a option in $600 range. I have Bashfabs
