My door sill area that is painted and not protected by plastic is getting beat up already and I've only had the truck a few weeks. Has anybody applied paint protection film to this area? Where can you buy the stuff and is it easy to apply? I've never worked with it.

Yes, I applied 3M protective film. I used 6 inch wide film and bought it off Amazon. I did all 4 doorways.

Thanks! Easy to apply? Self adhesive? Did you do anything to prep first?

I purchased these from Tufskinz. IMG_1906.jpg They fit perfectly, protects the sills and look very sharpe.

It is time consuming but not too hard do. Cut the roll you buy into 4 sections with backing still applied. Clean area to be applied with soap and water first, then wipe clean with isopropyl alcohol. Get yourself a clean spray bottle and put a few drops of Dawn dishsoap and fill with water. Peel backing off of 3M film and apply. Slowly squeeze out soapy solution with small squeegee. Don't rush
or press too hard you don't want to stretch the film.

There is a video on YouTube that shows how to do this. I posted this awhile back and need to find the link.

Go to post #4589 in the What have you done to your 3rd GEN Tundra Today thread.

My goal was to make it look invisible, that's why I went with 3M clear film. Adding the black tape like others have is good idea too but not what I was looking for.

That does look nice. Are they self adhesive? Any idea how long they last and stay put?

I’ve had them in since new (September). They still look like the day I installed them. Easy to install, simply pull the bottom trim plate off, line up the slots and apply.

These look nice, and look like they work well. We have two medium dogs in and out of the cab many times daily, try as they might they do not always make the full leap into the cab, occasionally land on door sill. Need to look into adding protection there. Perhaps one with grip surface would make most sense in my case.

Do you cut through the material to get a better fit on that first joint in the body paneling? Of just jump the gap with the film and leave it that way?
